About a week ago Obama said that pot is no wiorse than alcohol. The news media went ape . My local paper published a half page article with headline all the way across the top of the page saying "Presodent Obama states pot no worse than alcohol".The talking heads on TV have been bleating it ever since.

My question is "Why do the news media fall all over themselves publicizing what an ignorant, egotistical If fool says about the relative effects of alcohol vs. pot?". If a scientst with real knowledge of the matter made a statement on the same subject the news would have ignored it.

I wonder how many kids will decide to take up pot because of all the publicity.

Alcohol vs. pot? This contest is just a "red herring'. Both substances can be very destructive. The issue, in light of failed prohibitions on both substances, is how do we regulate Pot, without wasting countless dollars and countless lives through incarceration.

I support Colorado's attempts at making pot purchases akin to liquor purchases.

For those, who view Pot as an exceptional sacred sacrament, consider this: Has science ever found ANY kind of smoke to be healthy?

However, we don't lock up people for engaging in many kinds of unhealthy behaviors. Its time for people to stop being so puritan and so reactionary. The majority of this nation agrees. The vast majority of Americans are repulsed by puritan standards of behavior. They don't want the puritans long noses peering into how they spend their leisure time, whether its the substances they prefer, or how they choose to express their sexuality. I'm sure native Americans, as well as most of us would have preferred that the puritans never came here and just stayed in Holland. The Dutch, however, like the English, couldn't stand their holier-than-thou ways and sent them packing. Our misfortune.

Exactly. Pot is a horrifically bad health choice. While I
disagree with you on the "Puritan" thing, I say tax the heck out of pot like they do cigarettes and get on with it!

Well.. the facts are that pot is way, way, waayyy less harmful than alcohol. There has never been even 1 death attributed to pot. The distruction caused by alcohol on our society is huge. The most harmful thing about pot is being arrested for it.

My father-in-law never smoked cigarettes but smoked weed like it was going out of style and got cancer of the throat. He had to have half of his trachea removed. He died from complications. So pot DOES k**l, sorry to break it to you. All inhaled smoke will k**l you.

You forgot to mention the part where our President said he did not encourage the use of either and that both were harmfull. I wonder why?
