Florida Sheriff Implores Citizens to Practice 2nd Amendment: “This is War”

The United States has been an unwilling participant in the global terrorism p******c ever since the dastardly attacks of September 11th, 2001.
As radical Islamic jihadists around the globe continue their arduous push for global religious supremacy, their tactics have shifted immensely in the ensuing 15-plus years. September 11th’s heinous assault on America was a grandiose affair, rife with horror and a feeling of absolute inescapability. The sheer immensity of the attacks was enough to send many Americans into a panic, while others went immediately to work to ensure that something so heinous could never again occur on American soil.

After the total reconfiguring of our national security plan, terrorists have been forced to work in smaller, shorter bursts. Gone are the days of massive, national attacks with death tolls in the thousands. Today’s terrorism is a game of quantity, not quality, and that has provided armed Americans with a unique advantage in the war on terror. Where nations such as France and England have strict laws concerning civilian gun rights, Americans are armed to the teeth, comparatively. Terror does still strike on American soil, but not nearly at the frequency in which it does abroad, likely due to this very fact.

That’s why one Sheriff in Florida is urging citizens to continue to arm themselves, reiterating the pointed fact that “this is war”.

“A Florida sheriff’s office posted a controversial message on social media, urging citizens to arm themselves in self-defense.

“Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey posted the video on Facebook Wednesday, two days after a deadly workplace shooting in nearby Orlando claimed the lives of five people.

“’Folks, now more than ever is the time for our citizens to be prepared to serve as the first line of defense, not only for them, but for their families,’ Sheriff Ivey said.

“’What’s next is to fully understand that this is war, and you better be prepared to wage war to protect you, your family, and those around you if attacked,’ he said.
“Ivey stressed that attackers rely on people running, hiding, and waiting for help, rather than fighting back.”
Ivey’s comments about “hiding” and “waiting” seem to be in direct response to a British public service announcement in which authorities urged Britons to employ those very tactics should they find themselves in the face of terrorist danger.

While America has been relatively lucky in this most recent round of refugee-related terror, it is only a matter of time before radical Islam attempts to strike again within the borders of our great nation. Sheriff Ivey’s advice, which is uniquely suited to the United States and her citizens, should not be ignored.
