Foods that heal

For some time I have been researching healing foods and herbs. I have learned quite a bit in the past months and I wish to pass a few on to you while inviting you to add your own.

If you are fighting blood sugar spikes, but would love to indulge in chocolates again.... try Cacaco powder.... (caution, do not mix with milk) put it in a smoothie or top off your Redi Whip with a small sprinkle add a few strawberries and enjoy! It has almost no carbs, high in fiber, is very low in calories and very high in the "good fats." Mix it in your oat meal or even bake with it! Absolutely divine. It will not raise your blood glucose so it is safe (according to my doctor) for diabetics.

Still struggling for something to help with your coffee addiction (and perhaps shed a pound or two) try Matcha Tea. It is made with the entire tea leaf (green tea) and is a compact way of getting many vitamins. Zero calories, zero carbs, and zero fat! Use it in smoothies, serve it over ice, and add it to homemade ice cream.

This one, well it is very tart, but has more than 90 times the vitamin C than a bag of oranges.... in one serving! It is Camu Camu Powder. Add it to your oatmeal, in a fruit smoothie.... I like the flavor, but some folks find it too sour. Again, it will not raise your glucose level. No fat, no carbs, and only 3 calories per serving.

Feeling a little sad? Try some Organic Turmeric. Add it to scrambled eggs, on roasted vegetables, or a dash on your salad. Has a great peppery taste and is delightfully yellow. It contains anti-inflammation properties and helps combat free radicals. Best of all, you can buy it on the spice isle at your supermarket.

Your turn.

Natural Cures saved my life! The most significant was carrot seed oil! Natural cures are the doctors own worst enemy, no profit! There is a reason that the US healthcare system is only ranked the 37th best in the world!

I squeeze half a lemon in a cup, teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, and add warm water first thing in the morning.

With my first cup of morning coffee I add a teaspoon of local honey, I used to suffer in the fall with allergies but now that I use local honey my allergies have not been an issue for two years going on three.
I also add a 1/2 teaspoon of Ceylon cinnamon to my coffee maker.

If you're bored, try a tsp of ground cinnamon eaten directly from the spoon. You'll spend the next hour choking and thinking you're gonna die, but then when you don't - you'll swear it was a miracle and rejoice that you're still alive.

I suppose to some that notion would be hysterical and of course you have forgotten that I am the only individual on OPP who is humor impaired.

Fresh ginger grated into hot water for tea works for my joints.
Slow speed juicing of organic carrots works for the bone cancer.
Real organic anything but finding "real" organic is becoming difficult as the monopolies buy up the suppliers.

What an informative, thoughtful post, Penny..
I'm big on natural and herbs along with different areomatics..

Just sharing some things~~

Certain herbs and spices can help you maintain a healthy body weight by increasing your metabolism, shrinking fat tissue and suppressing your appetite
Ginseng, cayenne pepper, black pepper, cinnamon, turmeric and ginger may all support your weight loss goals when added generously to your meals
Other obesity-fighting herbs and spices include cardamom, dandelion, cumin and mustard
In addition to their benefits for weight, herbs and spices are actually some of the most potent antioxidants in your food supply, and may help fight heart disease and other chronic diseases, as well as premature aging...

Thank you so much for your addition to this thread. Speaking of weight, there is evidence that stress can cause people to gain weight and make it impossible, regardless of how few calories they eat, to lose it . It seems that our bodies produce Cortisol that puts the body in fight or flight mode and can actually wear out our hormone receptors which causes weight control problems, early aging, chronic fatigue, and heart failure. To help lower this hormone, of course exercise and meditation....but, putting a few herbs in the diet helps. Astragalus root comes to mind.
This root is amazing, has a calming affect on the body and increases the i****e s****m. Make it into a tea, sip it....

I believe that nature has provided us with everything needed to help us live long and productive lives. If we can limit or eliminate the synthetics from our lives.....

I informed my last doctor that if a prescription contained statins, to not bother to write it out. Instead, I asked him what that particular medication was meant to do. After getting the info, I went to the acupuncturist who keeps Chinese Herbal Remedies in her office and asked her what she had that would do the same thing. As these remedies are totally herbal and without fillers, I have had much success with them - and NO side effects. I did discover that the American made equivalent was a large capsule with fillers to make it look like a normal capsule. Upon trying it, I immediately broke out in a hive. I threw the balance of that bottle away. BTW the CHRs all look like little BBs and are very easy to swallow.

Hi Pennylynn, there is nothing that heals and nourishes the body like raw honey, nothing. Recall when Noah sent the dove out from the ark it came back with an olive branch. A super food I take everyday is olive leaf extract. Cocoanuts are in the shape of a human head- there is nothing better for the brain and your skin. When you take the shell off a walnut it looks like a miniature brain; that's because it's food for the brain. Something you can rely on totally. The creator and his perfect creation gave us fruits and vegetables in the shape of the human organ that it nourishes. Ginger root looks like a stomach with intestine, there is nothing like ginger to sooth an upset stomach, kidney beans feed the kidneys, A tomato is red with four chambers, heart food. Spinach layered muscle tissue. Bananas the male organ. I could go on for hours, you get the concept.

Many thanks for your post! Do you recall the name of the herb you took? It would be interesting to research.

I so agree with you!! I thrive on nuts, seeds, and green veggies. I find that I get all the protein I need, omagas, antioxidants, and fiber from these foods. My freezer is loaded with raw nuts to include Brizal nuts (which can be harmful if you eat too many), coconut chips, sunflower, chi, walnuts, and so on. Refrigerator has coconut milk, ghee, and rabbit food. I rarely get ill with colds and have not had a headache in years! Every now and again, my family insists on going out to eat.... and the food always makes me feel blotted and sick. Not many restaurants specialize in raw foods without additives.
