Hardly useless. they provide a counterpoint, or counterbalance, if you will, to conservatism. You cannot have dark without light, hot without cold; if it were not for contrast, you could not even read these posts. Bear in mind, when the Republicans were in control of the House, Senate and White House, they weren't exactly impressive. They were not as bad as the Dems, if that's a compliment.

If only one viewpoint could be right all the time. Sure would make things easier. We wouldn't have to think, or look around to see what was going on. We could just coast because we trust those guys/gals. Hmm. I guess that's what's going on after all. Problem is, none of them are completely right, or completely wrong. What the hell do we do now?

I thought I just said, or inferred, anyhow, exactly that. One must have a basis for comparison. In my version of an ideal situation, you would have a slight conservative majority in both Houses, a conservative in the White House, being closely watched by an informed and suspicious e*****rate ready to pounce. (Of course, in an ideal situation, bacon and eggs would be the healthiest food in the world). One is as likely as the other.
