Sometimes little things matter

In Switzerland it has been customary for students to shake the hands of their teachers at the beginning and end of each school day

It's a sign of solidarity and mutual respect between teacher and pupil, one that is thought to encourage the right classroom atmosphere

Justice Minister Simonetta Sommarauge recently felt compelled to further explain that shaking hands was part of Swiss culture.
The reason she felt compelled to speak out about the hand shake,is that two Muslim brothers, ages 14 and 15 who have lived in Switzerland for several years(And who were certainly familiar with it's mores) in the town of Therwil, refused to shake hands with their teacher,a woman, because they claimed this violated Muslim teachings that contact with the opposite sex is allowed only with family members.
At first School authorities decided to avoid trouble and granted the Muslim boys an exemption .

from shaking hands with a female teacher. But an uproar followed. As Mayor Reto wolf explained to the BBC"Our community was unhappy with the decision of the school board. In our culture and in our way of communication,a hand shake is normal and sends respect for the other person, and this has to be brought home to the children in school. The Education board reversed the schools decision ,explaining that the schools exemption was lifted because"The public interest with respect to the e******y between men and women and the integration of foreigners, out weighs the freedom of religion.,and i,it added that a teacher has the right to demand a hand shake and if the student refuses to shake hands"The sanction called upon by law will be applied, which includes a possible fine of 500 dollars
This uproar in Switzerland where many were enraged at the original exemption granted to the Muslim boys, did not end after the exemption was overturned. The Swiss understood clearly that this was more than a quarrel over hand shakes. It was a fight over whether the Swiss would be masters in their own house,or would they be forced to yield to the granting of special treatment to the Islamic view of the relation between sexes.Just one small battle, but to the Swiss, significant.

However once the exemption was withdrawn all hell broke lose among the Muslims in Switzerland.Instead of yielding peacefully to the Swiss law to uphold the hand shaking custom, criticised the decision in hysterical terms, claiming that the enforcement of hand shaking was totalitarian, because it's intent was to forbid religious people from meeting their obligation to God.
That of course was never the intent of the long standing hand shaking tradition,a nearly universal tradition in Switzerland, and had to do only with encouraging mutual respect between teachers and students
The Islamic Council said that if fines were handed out it would take legal action.About 400,000 Muslims live in Switzerland,Five percent of the country's population of eight million
Shortly after the boys refusal to shake hands became public their family's application for Swiss citizenship filed in January ,was put on hold
Authorities said they would investigate the circumstances under which the boys father ,an Iman at a mosque, arrived in Switzerland from Syria.
The Swiss formulation of the problem(weighing claims familiar to Americans versed in constitutional adjudication). In this case the public interest with respect to e******y of the sexes and the integration of foreigners(who are expected to adopt Swiss ways were weighed against religious obligations to the God of Muslims, and the former interests found to out weigh the latter.
What this case shows is that the smallest and seemingly inconsequential level,Muslims are challenging the laws and customs of the infidels among they have been allowed to settle(Ie stealth jihad toward Sharia law dominance).each little victory or defeat will determine if Muslims will truly integrate into a western society,or instead refashion that society to meet Muslim requirements.
The hand shake has been upheld, and what is more,a stiff fine will be imposed on those who continue to refuse to shake hands with their female teacher.
This is a heartening sign of non surrender by the Swiss. But the challenges of Muslims within Europe to the laws and customs of the indigines have no logical end and will not stop. And the greater the number of Muslims allowed to settle there, the stronger and more frequent their challenges will be.They are not attempting to integrate, but rather to create second parallel society, and eventually through sheer force of numbers from both immigration and out breeding the infidels,to not just fashion a parralel society but just one society dominated by Sharia law.
The Swiss hand shaking has received some but not enough press attention, evidently it is deemed a minor matter.
But the Swiss know better, and so should we.
There is an old Scottish saying"Many a little makes a mickle"--That is the accumulation of many little things, leads to one big thing.
This was just one small victory for the side of sanity.
There will need to be a great many more

So many people forget that besides violent jihad there is stealth civilization jihad. And we are seeing right here sharia being considered in American courts. Usually the outcomes are overturned on appeal, but this creeping violation of the constitution needs constant attention

So what do we say about groups in the USA who seek exemptions on the grounds of religious freedom?

Well, that's the key, not all Muslim's strictly follow their religion, and we could use their own words against them --as many claim "that's NOT ISLAM" so then if that is not Islam, as YOU know Islam, then it's not part of the 'religion of Islam' as a whole.

In Sweden, they could certainly look at what's t***spired in say Saudi, where the King (who is a devout Muslim, and other men) have in fact shaken the hands of women NOT related to them.

We see it here: and there are others where these men have shaken hands with women not their wives.
