America headed down a treacherous new path?

Following appeared in my local newspaper:

Is America adopting a Third World model?
Third World presidents ignore their nation’s constitutions
and usurp the powers of the legislature through executive orders and regulations. They assume the judicial role by deciding which laws they will enforce and which ones they will ignore or unilaterally change. The rule of
law is destroyed.
The presidents mouth a populist message but live in lavish lifestyles with expensive vacations. The economic system is normally one of crony capitalism where the government attempts to pick the winners and losers and reward political cronies. National budgets are never in balance so they print money or borrow from foreign powers.
The bureaucracy is politicized and used against political opponents. They spy on and lie to their own people. The presidents demonize their opponents and use the latest
form of corruption--using taxpayer money to give unaffordable benefits and subsidies to favored groups for their v**es. The political machines pit ethnic, religious, racial and and class groups against one another to maintain power. E******ns are stolen with no
real effort to eliminate v***r f***d. Despite evidence, they claim there is no fraud.
To avoid accountability, they foster a submissive media with special access while opposition media, if tolerated, is demonized. Education is dumbed down and politically correct. History is rewritten by advocacy historians. The value of life is discounted by promoting a******n. Moral values are revised and religious freedoms are limited especially if they are critical of the new morality.
Is this our new America?

This is the new America. I am heartened by one thing; great things are usually accomplished by small groups. The Revolutionary War was fought and won by less than 2% of the population. About half the population were Democrats. Did I say Democrats? I meant Tories. Even among the remainder of the population, most of them were ambivalent. A few committed, dedicated people can accomplish great things, because most people are ignorant, and/or apathetic. This is the best thing about OPP. The posters here, smart or stupid, educated or ignorant, have enough on the ball to care; to get involved. Even the ones I disagree with are, in my opinion, preferable to the apathetic majority who can tell you everything about "American Idol," and nothing about how their Congressman v**ed last week.

You are right about the apathy, it is endemic. Ignorance is unforgivable, especially in this age of instant information. My own stepchildren are making me crazy with their lack of concern about their own Childrens future. V****g is one thing, but blind v****g is almost as bad as not v****g at all. I have a hard time pinning them down for discussions as I have to try and fit in between work, after school activities, friends, family entertainment, etc.
The number of people that I know, who v**e, know who and/or what they're v****g for is quite small. The folks at Lowes and Walmart avoid me now because they know I'm going to bug them. People think I'm crazy because I want to know what the hell is going on and who's doing it. Oh well, I don't mind being nuts. My conscience is clear.

Left wingers exhibiting the same behavior, on the other hand, are considered quite normal.

Everything you have stated is totally correct. This is NOT the America (Amerika more like) I grew up believing in. Our government is totally out of control and certainly operating illegally. It 'lies like a rug' constantly. apparently thinking we will just go along with it without a clue. George Orwell was spot on when he wrote 1984!

America is headed down this wrong path, just like the introductory post said. I feel it's representatives are taking full advantage of us, the tax payers. They take the lavish vacations, to the tune of $4 million for a week or 10 day vacation. I'm mainly referring to oscandal. He takes expensive vacations every few months or possibly even weeks. But, what can be done about it? We're headed down the wrong road in everything the post mentioned, in ways that most people don't even see or understand. Oscandal has a pen and a phone and changes wh**ever he wants to change. A lot of it goes against the constitution. Our constitution is quickly going down the drain with oscandal in charge. He cares nothing about what this country was founded on. We used to be a Christian nation. No more. Oscandal has changed that. And look at the shape we are in now. America is falling and he knows it. It's the perfect scenario for a different government to take over. This is exactly what he wants. He has an agenda and it's not for the good of the people. He's such a loser. But, what do we do about it? How do we know the v****g won't be r****d again? We don't and he knows that, too. He reminds me of julias caesar. A tyrant of a leader. Or should I say a dictator. He's a crook and a con. He's pulled the wool over many eyes. Not mine, tho. I see right through him. He cares only about himself and thinks nothing of the American public. I just hope he doesn't change how many years a president can serve. That would be a nightmare. Not that we aren't already in one. We are. Things will get worse with him. Just wait and see.

You two are so TOTALLY accurate. Too many parents are neglecting their roll as PARENTS and just want the kids to like them.

Talk about treacherous! I just read that Obummer has now played the 'race card' cause his approval ratings are going in the toilet. Talk about childish bulls**t. Just what is expected from a crybaby crook and liar.

America has certainly changed. And NOT for the better! Obama wiping his ass with the Constitution while clutching his phone and pen in the other. Washington D.C. is completely full of corrupt t*****rs!

This Administration has reversed the American Ideology. Namely, it used to be the rich and famous were the most revered and admired or feared.

We have become a nation where the poor are the ones controlling the powers that be by the use of their v**es. The shame of it all is that this evil has been perpuated on the non or low informed v**er for generations in the form of handouts, or freebies. They have systematically destroyed the family by degrading the father making him look like a r****t i***t, (Archie Bunker). The male has been either removed or feminized to where he is either disreguarded or non existant. One of these days, the bills for all the give aways are going to come due and no one will be able to pay. No one. What a wonderful future has been stole from those that will follow. American will go down in history as an picture of an upside triangle or a cone. Only God can save America.

We should have a mechanism in our Constitution that would keep lame duck Presidents on their toes. Otherwise, we end up with what we have today....a man dedicated to force feeding the Nation an anti-capitalist agenda. Have you noticed that his recent rhetoric seems to be pointed at dividing the classes? Does he envision a French style revolution where the lower class yelled "off with their heads" while unseating the rich?
With Obama's approval rating at close to 40% it's obvious Americans have given him a "no confidence" v**e. With nearly 3 more years in office, and no one to answer to, we've created a dictator.

Blueflu - that was good what you just said. I'm kinda new at politics. But, I know when someone is right. And that you were. My thinking is that he's a muslim. Or, at least, a muslim lover. I think that his agenda includes helping to muslimize the world. Only, he'll still be dictating somewhere. I know that's extreme. But, that's what I see him doing. Muslimism isn't that far from c*******m. Anyway, I just thought I'd throw that in.
