I just sat down and did a little math..............

I am not going to go into details and everything is rounded to the highest number but after calculating my taxes, insurance, and FICA. Just about 1/3 of my company's income goes to support people who do not work. To be fair 25% goes towards people who actually need help. 75% goes to unemployment benefits for those who are able to work but do not.

I am not going to go into a diatribe about this but if that 1/3 was going into my company's pocket even minus the 25%, I could probably pay myself.

Hi Lone Ghost,
It is very tuff owning a business with Obama. If you really want to get to the finally number of out of pocket taxes just start keeping all your tax receipts for each month and at the end of the month add them all together and at the end of the year you will just cry. I can only guess for you but I pay about 48% each year in taxes.

I appreciate your reply but I have an accountant who does all of that, and my business manager does annual audits of his book keeping which all come back to me. Yes it is a b***h but what are you going to do?

This was good timing. Today I had two electricians here for some light work. Company has been here about 20 years and they have been trying to add 10 people but no one wants to work as they would rather take your tax dollars. The typical answer is I don't want to work 50 hours and they rather do nothing and collect.

Got to thinking after they left, 50 hours, that was a short work week when I was working as mine was 12 hour nights 5 and 6 days. Times sure have changed, we are a lazy nation.

Just think how much you could lower you income tax ( by 35 % ) if the cowards in Congress closed all tax loopholes . For every dollar for " those who able to work but do not " we spend 10 dollars on the rich in tax loopholes . You complain about the dime and the dollar gets away .. The top income tax rate under the Simpson / Bowles is 24 % .

I hear ya Lone Ghost, I own a Restaurant / Bar / Casino. We were doing very well before 2009, but now I have been dipping into my retirement pension at times just to cover payroll. I would love to be able to pay myself again.
