O what memories! I was born in 43 thanks!
I have seen and heard this before, yet it remains one of my favorite videos of all-time. Also, 'Lost In The 50s' is the Sgt. Major's favorite song and by her favorite singer, Ronnie Milsap.

The green stamps were used to purchase items. They had a catalog and it would take so many books to purchase say a fan or a radio or wh**ever was in their catalog. Sort of like earning miles and getting upgrades today.

Holy crumb~~~ Why the heck don't they do that now???? Oh wait~~ you would never get them full, rightttttt...lolol
Some things of the past were the signs of the future...Catalog shopping then, online shopping now..Exept you can't use stamps, c**pon for discounts but not stamps...I like the stamp format better.....
At first I thought they were food rationing stamps or something..I have some of those my grandmother gave me ..Bread, milk and sugar...butter near impossible unless you made your own she told me...and heck, we made fresh butter all the time, there is NOTHING better !!! When really energentic i'll make some but I'm making different flavored butters when I do that, garlic, apple, herbs, spiced, parsley etc....ITs fun but not something I'll do a lot...
Thank You bahmer~~

The stamps were a royal pain, it seemed like you had to accumulate untold zillions of those things to buy some substandard gimrack that you wouldn't look twice at if you had to pay for it with cash. They just increased the overall cost of grocery and gasoline purchases.
Thanks for that video. My mom watched it and was beaming. She was born in '40 and dad in '36.They would talk for hours telling stories of their adventures in the '50's.How lucky they were to experience a great decade of America.
S & H green stamps ( Sperry and Hutchison). Remember them well.
