Correcting the telling of time

As I laid in bed last night between the hours of midnight and 5:00 O'clock ,unable to sleep, I got to thinking about telling the time of day on the clock. It seems to me we having telling wrong since time began. The new day they say starts at 12:01 AM. In my way of thinking is if you say the first hour is between 12:00 and 1:00 that would be wrong. Like all things start at 00:00:00. (hour-minute-second) Why not the day. If you say it is 12:01 you are continuing the previous day. That would make the new day start at 1:00 o'clock. So I sound like I don't have both oars in the water, stop and think about it for five minutes than forget it. DO NOT TELL A FRIEND ABOUT THIS. Tell an enemy. Let them lay awake all night thinking about this. theunknown

lol
I sincerely hope Slatten doesn't read this post
Poor guy will worry over it and miss his supper
as for lying awake
read a good book
til you fall asleep
if that don't work
get up and take a big slug of Jack
if that don't do the trick
go back to bed
and worry about what time it is

Who be 'they' that say the day starts at 12:01 AM or am? It never did, and never will, but a good idea for general usage. Here is why.
The instant the day starts, the time is 0000 or 00:00 or 12:00 Midnight, which is the same time as the end of the day before, which is 2400 or 24:00 or 12:00 Midnight. It just depends on what timing usage you are referencing – a 12 hour clock or 24 hour clock. Never use AM or PM when using 12:00. I learned (before digital clock usage) 12 AM was noon, but most people now want to use 12 PM for noon, ONLY because the digital clock are programmed to change then (at 12). But before digital was common use for the 12-hour clock, it was still proper to never use AM or PM with 12:00, for the same reason - too confusing. One should always use N or noon, or M or midnight. HERE IS THE WHOLE PROBLEM: AM is the abbreviation or acronym for “ante meridiem”, which, in Latin, is “before noon”, while PM stands for “post meridiem” or “after noon”. So, technically one might could argue either way or that both mean midnight, but then, which one? since both are 12 hours from noon – the very reason one should NEVER USE 12 AM or 12 PM. Use 12N or 12M.
So...that said. The reasoning I like the usage 12:01 AM is to remove any doubt about it being noon or midnight. That minute is insignificant in general usage, but 12 hours (or 24 hours) is problematic, to say the least. And, IMHO, that's the facts, Jack!

Thats because you people work a 9 to 5 job but there are strange creatures that work different hours. In my way of thinking this time thing started with these people that have 24hr service therefore the need for three shifts 7-3/3-11/11-7 and in my life have worked all at one time or another since all three share 1 hour to allow such things as change over/reports ect This then covers a 24 hr period

Wh**ever you are trying to point out doesn't change a thing. I've worked the evening shift and the graveyard, and regular daytime, too, and we still knew the calendar day changed at midnight. It is what it is.

I just called her. She said she can't make over today, but will be over there second Tuesday next week. That's the best we could do for you now. Sorry.

It doesn't matter what time we ascribe..Its still a man made time to measure by while having no idea of the true time of anything...About the only thing that is true is when the sun is seen and the moon follows...Is that a 12 hour cycle when the sun and moon show themself?? How do we really know??.......What time is it anyway??

Yer right. Time and distance are man made for a reference. One day is one rotation of the earth as we have figured. It was divided up into degrees, hours, minutes, seconds, etc. by whom ever many many many moons ago. So goes with a year, solar or lunar. We had to create what we call time so that everything doesn't happen at once. One thing you might could say about humans measurement for time. It doesn't seem to work for people figuring how 'old' the earth is. Seems nobody can agree using human measurements. But that's another topic. Maybe when you die, the one sitting on the throne will explain it all.

That is most likely or should He return maybe then we could ask???
None of it really matters anyway..The time is this very moment..What is past is gone, not to be replaced..What is to come never arrives time wise, because it is this moment that is important and really all there is~~~
