Shouldn't they soak their feet in it instead?

I try to avoid h**e speech. Insults are another matter. Those, I try not to be the initiator, but I have no hestitation when someone else begins. I am open to courteous discussion, especially with people I do not agree with. It's hard to learn anything in an echo chamber. One more thing: I am a smartass, NOT a windbag. I worked hard to become one, and I will not have it cheapened or denigrated by comparison to a lesser category of gadfly. This time I will let it slide. (LOL)

I guess I could say I worked hard to become a smartass... some of it is instinct. However, I do agree it is quite an achievement to keep the two.. (fore)smart... and (aft)ass
on an even...uh, footing. Kind of like balancing a seesaw.

And(LOL) I never suggested you personally were a windbag, sir.

Although it could be considered the ultimate insult to a serial contributor to an intellectual forum.

I will merely make a request again that hopefully, however fiery and abrasive the 'hot potato topic' may be...

that the administrators coach the 'college students' to include conflict resolution in the ultimate goals of the discussions.

Anyone can see that. It is the absolutely delicious irony of misspelling the title of a post in which you call other people stupid.

Conflict resolution is instinctive. Humor cannot be taught but it can be learned. Most people ,of higher intellect, would choose to leave the class if it became too difficult. Asking teach to dumb it down does a disservice to all the rest. Besides, goofy requests are hardly fiery or abrasive, except maybe for the requestor.

maybe Mr. lpnmajor...needs to be relegated to 'minor.' You have introduced conflicted logic several times in your short narrative.
Why is it not the challenge of 'higher intellect' in a difficult class? Why on earth would they choose to leave?

Where did I suggest that conflict resolution would be 'dumbing it down?'

Apparently, the conflict resolution statement on 'fiery or abrasive' topics was spot on... due to the goofy requests/fiery or abrasive response.

I had no idea I would touching such a sensitive blog nerve.

Not any more. He was, but had to withdraw because he was, like the immortal Bard, "a weakish speller." I''m curious about you, annagraham, do you have any married children to make you a "hitler woman?"

You are the one who started it. With a name like annagraham, you have to expect a little punishment, (or nine thumps).

Okay, Mr. Banjo... I accept the 'dutch rub' for annagraham.

Just keeping with the 'users.' There's a tell all...

I'm not sure what I started... except a request to attempt conflict resolution within the dialogue.

Since you inquired... I used to be a college instructor - three years. My contract was not renewed because of disagreements with the administration... they did wish to hire me back... but remove my seniority. I refused.

Probably their action was due to my popularity with the students - 'conflict resolution' in class rather than 'I'll get back to you.'

An impromptu class assignment 'correcting' the textbook "Process Operations" - one chapter, 5 pages had 14 mathematical errors... I was actually counseled on this.

"I told the students they were just as intelligent as the Ph.D textbook writers... they could probably clarify the misstatements and present a more coherent premise."

I also told them that teaching is not deception... the most infuriating teachers are those that use deception to intimidate students... the I am right and you are wrong approach... you can use deception as multiple choice ONLY if you have already taught correct answers!

Also, sir, intelligence is not deception... hence the 'relegating major to minor' reference.

After the 'rewriting of the textbook chapter' - pun intended - students poured into my class such that the last semester the class schedule was listed as 'staff'...

and I was told I could re-apply.

I told the admin - "In the three years I have been here I received an education. You people do not believe in education. The only way I would re-apply is if I was so delirious from lack of food that I did not remember working here."

I left them with the grand Mark Twain quote...

"I will not let my schooling interfere with my education."

Wow, My daughter went to a gifted school program, preschool, where there was a 3 year old boy who could read, knew all the states and capitols, IQ off the charts, nine years later this poor child, still had his incredible intellect, but no social sk**ls, nor physical sk**ls, and was emotionally stunted, well rounded is better every time

Are we talking about Obomaites, or us normal Americans ?
