Your Liver and Symptoms of Alzheimer's disease

Some of you may know, I have a friend who was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. For the past several weeks I have been reading everything I can find about how this happened and what to do about it... if indeed anything can be done. And I have learned many things, all supported with clinical trials.

The first thing, weight loss is a must if the individual is carrying around as much as 20 pounds more than they should. Well, my friend is a very big woman, has been as long as I have known her. Of course she was resigned to her overweight condition and often made excuses for not dieting. Typical excuses went like this: G*d made me this way, I lose weight and gain back double, I have big bones, and I am happy the way I am. T***h be told, she is not happy, her bones are normal size for her height, and G*d did not make us gluttons for the wrong foods.

The second thing I found out is people become unable to use their insulin, they become insulin resistant. That is a problem because your body needs the glucose for energy and your brain uses almost all of the glucose your body manufactures. If there is too much in your blood supply, then it is reprocessed in the body and turned into fat. So the more a person becomes insulin resistant the fatter they become. A cycle of feeling hungry and thirsty all the time, eating without feeling full, and one fad diet after another. Do not confuse glucose with sugar. Sugar does not necessarily make you fat and your body will manufacture glucose even if you do not consume one gram of sugar. What makes a person fat is what the body does with the excess glucose after the muscles and brain has absorbed what they need.

And now for the most alarming information I found, and you do not need to be diabetic or even pre-diabetic to suffer from it... FATTY LIVER! Normally there is no pain, your blood work may be marginal for bad cholesterol, and you may not even drink. Liver enzyme tests are sometimes normal, and even ultrasounds and CT scans don't always pick up on the disease. But, more than 25 percent of Americans have fatty liver disease (NAFLD), according to the American Liver Foundation.

My friends, if you notice any of these symptoms, please make a doctor's appointment:

The first sign is a swollen stomach or ankles, or vomiting blood.
Some patients develop brain changes called hepatic encephalopathy. As the disease progresses, the liver has a hard time filtering out toxins, which can go to the brain and cause problems such as memory lapses, trouble sleeping at night and lack of coordination. It might start out with minimal changes, like a few more dents in the car. And as it progresses, it mimics Alzheimer's from forgetting where you are going, how you got where you are, and inability to remember small things like birthdays, or the name of the person you just met. And at the end stages, people often are hospitalized because they can not be trusted to remember the hot and cold in showers or how to dress themselves.

If caught early there is hope. A low carbohydrate diet has shown potential. Low carb does not eliminate all your favorite foods, to include pizza and beer, but does encourage good carbs such as fresh fruit and good fats. Cutting out processed foods (almost all fast food junk), and go for daily walks.

Mind you, I am not a medical doctor and only offer this information because I care. Back to my friend. 40 days on low carb high fat diet... she has lost 14 pounds, and she reports that she is rarely hungry. She does not count calories, and she eats almost anything she wants... exception of bread, soy, refined sugar, and juices like apple, orange and so on. Her glucose in the morning has made a move in the right direction (from 119 fasting morning to 101 on average), she has more energy and even her other blood work has improved. And her mood has improved (thank G*d)! She went on the diet under close supervision of her doctor. I am not implying that anyone should adopt her methods, only saying it is working for her.

Lions Mane...AHCC....Beta Glucan. These can all be purchased on eBay and they work very well. Vitamin B's also help.

My Mother in Law is 94. Has had Alzheimer's disease for the past 9 years advancing until 5 years ago. Have been using all of these supplements and she has not progressed into a worse condition within a few weeks of using them. She eats anything and everything although she is not over weight at all. She also still walks around and is active as much as she can. More than one source for what is behind this disease is regarding infections within the brain that do not show much of a symptom at the time,, and create some platelet build up on the normal brain tissue more or less like a scar effect and then destroys the normal cells causing the brain to actually shrink in size. The Lions Mane, AHCC and Beta Glucan all are noted for extreme i****e s****m boosters. They also work for a boost to fight off cancers, and or any infections a person may have. In fact they can also work on dogs or cats when they get infections or cancers. The disease is a real "b***h" for anyone to have but after being around elderly people that have it, I suggest anyone to start using the supplements to prevent it as well.

Far too many people are getting this disease. I tend to think it may be from food and things have been added to it over the past several generations and maybe other things like aluminum cookware, things with aluminum particles and some other sources that create factors to bring that disease into action. There also seems to be a link genetically for it to surface in family members.

And of course, all of these supplements work for a liver issue, and diabetic issues as well.

Excellent point! Many thanks for sharing. I am positive that our diet has a lot to do with Alzheimer's Disease as well as cancers, diabetes, inflammation, and a host of other diseases! I am not a fan of coated cookware either. Or city water that takes all the minerals out while adding bleach and fluoride. T***h be told, we may have "modernized" ourselves into a death spiral. Everyone owes it to themselves to learn as much as they can about what they are putting into their bodies. I am not much into taking medications, but your recommendations are perfectly reasonable.

Those supplements are all made from compounds of extractions from Mushrooms from Japan or China. So in a way they are a "food extract" and not an herb or a medication but are a treatment from a Natural Source for the i****e s****m. You can see on advertisements recently they have what is called "auto immune" medication for treatment of cancer rather than using chemo or radiation for it...BUT that medicine they are pushing is not made from a Natural Source...it is a synthetic man made drug....and it is expensive as all hell!

Our i****e s****m plays a bigger role in our body function then many would even guess. And it gets taxed out from just daily things we do, when we eat, etc. and worse if we have a sickness or something that puts a further burden on it. Boosting it up a few hundred times makes one hell of a difference in fighting off most things we normally go to a doctor for or worse!

Good Morning Doctor.... !! Thank you so much for weighing in on this! When I started researching and found this.... to be honest it was concerning. Beyond my friend's issue, I learned that even thin people, although rare, can develop a fatty liver.

Without having to buy and read the book, can you give me a quick overview (basics)? Thanks a bunch!

If you do the cleanse, you will need the book,, because the "timing" of every event is absolutely critical...

You drink Apple juice all week through a straw due to the "malic acid" (the straw keeps it off your teeth).... then on friday you make a cocktail of red grapefruit juice, olive oil and epsom salts,,,

Then the next morning, you begin to empty the colon,,,, and you have another oil, juic and salt cocktail,,, as the colon cleanes, the combination causes the hepatic duct to open, and the acid has softened all the stones..... literally thousands of bright emerald green stones come out.... (green because they are Bile crystals).....

On the downside, it is pretty yucky tasting stuff,,,, but boy does it work,,,,and as well,, since the liver stores alcohols, drugs, and other toxins, you can get high, drunk/woozy/ or taste metals etc for several hours,, but that is normal........

Its cheap, easy, done with things you already have at home, and doesnt require a MD to tell you how... its perfect.......

Penny, I suggest reading this book and will tell you my mother only had one kidney and was type two diabetic...Also non compliant for many years..

I know exactly what you are talking about with fatty livers..They can be problematic no doubt...
The only reason I am sugesting this book for liver flush is because it absolutely worked for my mother.. I put her on the diet and I was stunned to see bright rosie cheeks, more clarity in thought , and was able to reduce her insulin by 15 units after a month..Yes, I swear it..
She also lost 12 pds and I lost weight too..I told her I would do it with her but stopped after 10pds...

What I learned in the book was the platues we hit when dieting and why...When dieting the toxins released go through the liver and over time from the diet it literally over functions the liver that basically shuts down in a manner of speaking..When the liver cleans itself out and is free of the overage from dieting we start loosing weight again.. Made perfectly good sense to me about what happens..

Anyway, I am not a doctor either but I would recommend this diet to anyone because all I saw was positive everything..It also changes your eating habits...There is a cook book as well..I got it just because, not because it was needed...I can not tell you how good the recipes are..Periodically I will go on the short version to clean my liver, not so much for dietng even though I do lose weight...

Nothing more than a suggestion, because it is excellent for the liver..It does clean it automatically while dieting and is a lot healthier in the end...Not to mention the benefits for diabetics.....

Linda,

Thank you ever so much. I will get the book you recommended and Dr. VeHoe's as well. I will read them cover to cover and then explain them to my friend. I think I will have her stay with me (her children are unconcerned about her--sad story) if she decides to do either cleansing. I am so proud of her progress this far and if a cleanse will give her more incentive, I am all for it. Who knows, we may do it together... I could lose a pound or so. After I stopped running (long story) I gained 5 pounds and it will not go away! And perhaps my liver could use some housekeeping. Although, I have never her below 200 pounds... it will be interesting to see how far she will go. She is a stubborn woman, so she just may get down to her "right" weight. My goal is selfish, I want to keep her around as long as possible.

I've lived that Alzheimer illness through my father as you know...My heart goes out to you AO, because you are her care giver and that itself, is very hard...
Thank You for sharing what you said here and yes, another suggestion I take to heart...Its always better when you can have true testimony about things you may consider...

Ebay, you say, ok...Anything that prevents is worth trying for healther living and its not drugs, all the better.....

Penny, see what one topic can do in helping others or just learning about other things that can help us..Very nice!!!
