This question was raised last night. I was initially quite stumped:

A sundial is the timepiece with the fewest moving parts. Do you know which timepiece has the most?

No problem. I wasn't asking you anyways. When you hear the answer, you may see the profundity; but regardless, now we see how you are....

Nice try, no cigar. By the way, what's the 'automatic clock'? It's that 'damn auto-correct' thing again, isn't it?

Another nice try. Still incorrect. I'll give you a little clue: These moving parts are really very small, they all work together, and do not move very often. That help?

Is that what that smell is? I thought the wife was burning the salad again. Last time it took a week to clean up... You're really going to kick yourself when you find out the answer. I did.

It's not one of those Black Forest cuckoo clocks with birds, butterflies, dancers, et al, or an Emperor Grandfather clock. OK, I've strained the grey matter and now I've got to take a nap but first I've got to wake up my old English Springer Spaniel next to me on the couch and I don't have the heart to do it. Life is so complicated.

Alright. I'll put you and the spaniel out of your respective miseries. Are you ready for this? The clock with the most moving parts is.... an hourglass.

Now you can get your nap in peace.

I am going to "unfriend" you and put you on my permanent disregard list. I am going to draw a line thru your name in the Book of Life, and I'm going to sic my old dog on you.

Other than those little inconsequential things, that was a good one!

the 'timepiece' that has the most moving parts is the human body as it is timeless, but keeps lousy time and often isn't on time. And that my friend is 'timely'
