Then that makes two sob's because Chocura 750 is spot on and is the biggest issue with me Having attended good public schools in both Oklahoma and California I have been lamenting the attack on public education for a very long time. In California at the time all high school students that graduated in the top one third of their class received free tuition to a state college or university. That is no longer the case and tuition at these institutions is nearly as high as a private institution

In Cuba there is an emphasis on teaching and it is hoped that all people will be able to read and write because this will facilitate political indoctrination. However, it is false that this country was a full of illiterates before the c*******t revolution. In the census of 1957 it was established that 77% of Cubans could read and write.
The system prevailing in Cuba can be classified as a state capitalism inclined to s***ery. Those who hold power in Cuba can be classified as feudal lords to whom it is convenient that the people be instructed to exploit it better. Development and civilization have left behind those times when masters did not want the s***es to have knowledge. That was good in the epoch of obscurantism, but it must be remembered that in times of Greece and Rome an educated s***e was very valuable. There were many s***es who were professionals and reported good income to their masters. It is to be noted that the masters of Cuba sell the work of their physicians as if they were s***es in the same way as the s***e-owners in Rome.
The system of education in Cuba suffers from great defects and it can be said that teaching in public schools is no better than that of private schools.
Teachers are the basic weapon of teaching and it seems that teaching in private school is more auspicious to the teacher, because to the public school attends all kinds of element and that mixture is not good. In the private school parents pay for teaching and can demand, in the public school the demand is not much because it is not paid. In the public school, the place where they teach classes may be in ruins, as is the case of many schools in Cuba.
I do not see the importance that in Cuba there is a 100% of people who can read and write. What is intended to establish with this example?

The program was supported by the Tax payers of California who approved of the investment in future generations. These taxpayers supported the building of a water project with no equal in the world that when finished brought water to farms an cities from Mexico to Oregon to a population of 20 million that is still supplying water to day to 40 million. They saw it as an investment in future generations. From 1911 to 1966 Californians built scores of public buildings, libraries, city halls, highways, tunnels, all seven bridges that spans San Francisco bay and their modern replacements 300 public college, city college, and university campuses. all built as public works projects with bond issues. Then Ronald Reagan was elected California governor in 1966 and the progressive era of California ended. Todays generations are not concerned with future generations as they are with self

No I'm not defending Castro just recounting the facts The CIA's outlandish plots to bump off the Cuban dictator would put 007 to shame ... poison pills, toxic cigars and exploding cigars. Once he even offered to shoot himself. None of the plots, of course, succeeded, but, then, many of them would probably be rejected as too fanciful for a James Bond novel. Knowing his fascination for scuba diving the CIA once tried to find a shell large enough to hold a lethal amt. of explosives witch could be painted in colors lurid and bright enough to attract Castro's attention. They devised an operation called operation Northwoods . A plane to blow up buildings in Miami and Washington DC shoot down an air liner with fighter jets that were would made to look like Cuban plans and blame it all in the Castro regime in order to stimulate the American people in to going to war with Cuba but JFK shot that plan down. I'm not defending Castro he was a ruthless dictator but he had be he had a lot of enemies and some big powerful ones in the mafia. Cia. and the Cuban exiles that jumped in their yachts and fled to Miami when Castro took over those who weren't in time got left behind to face the firing squad. and yes I agree conditions in Cuba are deplorable. After the soviet union collapsed Cuba was hit hard The soviets were the main byer's of Cuban sugar and remained under the US embargo making life for Cubans that much more difficult. The artic you post confirms mush of what I've been saying and there is no doubt conditions in Cuba are deplorable

You pretty much are defending him. He had a compadre you may have heard of Che Guevaro, a murdering POS. Now what you say is true as far as it goes. These C*******ts had dangerous enemies. However they promised the peons. the peasants, the commoners a better life. What they gave the average Cuban was as bad as they had under Batista. Fidel Castro used torture and murder to terrorize his own citizens, all just to maintain his iron grip on power. Like the C*******ts in China and Vladimir Putin in Russia, Castro crushed anyone who dared speak up. Kinda like the snowflakes on American universities, only much worse. There are many Cuban dissidents. They are the reason I h**e Castro. You mentioned the CIA plots to murder him. The only problem I have with them are that they failed. So anyway, to put a face on the faceless victims of Castro here is one.

And California, like Illinois is basically bankrupt. Destroyed by the political establishent and their corruption. Those current bonds and pensions will never be paid. Illinois will be the first state in the Union to declare bankruptcy after it amends its state constitution. California will be not far behind it. All because Democrats and their feeble enablers in the Republican party can't understand basic economics of debits and credits, assets and liabilities. They continue to spend other peoples money with reckless abandon.
