Thanks Kk, you were there whenever I was. Did you know Leslie Kornell? She was a rookie when I met her, working Westport area. She made Sargent they placed her at 68th sub station. She was a detective whenever I got off the street. I will never forget the time I was setting in the drunk tank by the elevator, she came to the elevator with two men, all three in suits. She said "Hi Bobby" I just said hi and she asked me "you don't know me do you" I answered "you look familiar but honestly I can't place you" she said "it's me Leslie " like an idiot I said "Oh, I didn't recognize you with you clothes on " I realized what I had implied, she turned beat red and the other two detectives cracked up.
Leslie and I had always had a flirtatious relationship. Never went any further but I think several thought that it had. She even told me once "I'll go out with you Bobby, if you get clean and de- louse" the alcohol won again.

Thanks, I beleive it was my phone's spell check that changed hight to night. If you have Facebook check out the page "Spell Check Sucks" I get a lot of laughs there.

Muscular enogh that people call me skinny even though I am roughly 35 pounds overweight for my night. Exactly why I don't like the BMI formula. The only way to accurately determine fat is to measure weight in water

I don't know how to hate. If I were to hate anyone or anything it would be the ignorance of not loving another simply because they are a different color.
So I hope 🙏 that you like this poem. 2008 I was one of the top 10 finalists for "Poet of the Year". Considering that we elected our first black president 3 months after the reading that determined the winner. I am confident that I was in for the title and the $10,000 prize.
Poetry.com wanted the 10 finalists to go to Lasvegas and read our poetry to an audience of over 10,000 people. Then the audience voted for #1. Like I made reference to earlier about Obama I think I had it in the bag.
I sent the poem to Michelle Obama in '08, in 2014 she emailed me that she had nominated "The Racist" for the Pulitzer Prize.
I hope 🙏 that I don't sound like I am blowing my own horn. Truth is it is a little embarrassing to have a child come up asking for an autograph because he or she was taught the poem in school.
