For most of us, there will come a crisis in life that will alter our behavior for better or worse.
For example, there is a universal circumstance most women will face at some point in their lives. It'll be of a sexual nature.
It can arrive like the proverbial thief in the night.
My ex wife, now deceased, was repeatedly molested by her father starting when she was 13 y o a. The negative
repercussions side tracked a confident girl with above average intelligence and made her into a bitter person who lost her
moral compass. She became a woman incapable of trust and most of all, love.
Stupidly, I married her. There were happy times but enough of them. In the end, like all the king's horses and all the king's men
I failed to put what was shattered back together again.

You've hit the nail on the head as far as police officers trying to do their job in this new environment.
To be clear, I'm referring to big city officers assigned to predominately Black areas.
After what happened in Baltimore, where several officers were charged with felonies and brought to trial, the reaction of
of those who patrol such neighborhoods across the Nation is pretty much the same. Don't be proactive. Sit in your patrol car
and simply answer calls. In their minds, it's not worth risking your job, getting sued, having your actions examined by a grand jury and
becoming a political hot potato.
It's a shame, too. There are plenty of decent people living in such an environment who pray daily that they won't be left to the mercy of local
thugs they are forced to live next to. Who will answer their prayers?
