Those Dumb Girls from Fox News
If you watch FOX NEWS, now you know!!!! I would like to see the credentials of the men and women on all the other stations.
For the past 10 years FOX News has had higher ratings and larger audience numbers (for news & business/political "talk" programs) than all of the other TV and Cable news channels combined, which includes: CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC & CBS!

Some folks claim that FOX's higher ratings are only because FOX purposely hires a lot of female "reporters" who do nothing but sit around in short skirts and merely "read everything off of a teleprompter".





Bottom line: The next time you hear someone criticizing FOX News for supposedly having a "bunch of dumb gals"as eye candy . . . check out their qualifications...let them speak for themselves!

The only useful form of "gun control" is the ability to put a full clip into a pie-pan-sized space at 30 yards...if you can't accomplish this, practice until you can.

For home security, otoh, no gun will ever be as effective as a couple of well-trained big dogs...burglars avoid houses with dogs, because there's no way to silence them completely enough to commit the crime, and home invaders feel the same way.

The combination of big dogs and a pump 12-guage is even more effective...while the dogs are raising a racket (and/or possibly chewing on the perp), you have time to get out the gun and call the cops.

OTOH, a pistol is NOT a smart deterrent, as very few people are able to use a pistol safely under stress...with a shot gun, you need only aim "dead center" and simply "ratcheting" will cause most folks to freeze (it's a VERY identifiable sound).

Just some Real World perspective. :)

My sister got a gun for personal protection. She fears dying by gun violence during a home invasion. She isn't sure how frequently that happens to people but its BAD.

We did a quick Google and came up with a figure. The presence of a gun in the home INCREASES its occupants chances of dying by gunshot 2.7 times because of there now being a chance you could be shot by your own gun via domestic violence, and suicide or accident in addition to the chance of being killed by the gun the home invader brings with him.

Did she want to delve further? Find out the basis for these claims and evaluate their merit? Look at those reports to see WHO said this and are they trustworthy or FOS? Did she pause when we learned that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that the safest home for any child is one without a gun?

We didn't read anymore. She said she FELT safer with the gun and was gonna keep it.

I told her that was like fearing there might be a bobcat in the woods out back and you are afraid he might hurt someone. So you get 2.7 ATTACK PANTHERS to protect you and keep them in the bedroom.

She said there you go again. You disrespect every idea I come up with. You don't care about me! You just want to win your argument. KEEP IT LOCKED IN A SAFE, UNLOADED, AND THE AMMO LOCKED UP SEPARATELY? Now how is that gonna help in the middle of the night during a home invasion? And when 3 yo grandson is visiting? He never goes in my bedroom. When he's here I have my eyes on him every second!

Somehow, I am not comforted.

I did run across this quip. The only difference between an argument and a funeral is a gun in the hands of an intemperate fool.
