Lots of people plead guilty when they’re not. Variety of reasons. Usually a lesser sentence and or family member threatened. Doesn’t matter in this case whether Flynn was guilty or not. Prosecutorial conduct and material facts changed and or omitted.

So you are in favor of folks getting off on a technicality?

I think LPN might be making an educated guess based on how the President depends so heavily on the trappings of power to bolster his own image.

I am reminded of what a friend told a man driving an enormous, jacked up truck.

"What a GREAT truck! Sorry about your dick."

I wonder if you can count on one hand all the non-gays in San Fran?

The Bay Area (SF, Oakland, Hayward) clocks in at the largest % LGBTQ population in the U.S. at just over 6%, the largest in the nation. So if one chose to, it's pretty easy to be certain that there are more than one-hand's worth of non-gay folks in SF. In SF proper the reality is that we are so assimilated we really do not stick out. And the Castro, the historically gay center, is now incredibly mixed. Except for tourists, it's mostly young families these days.

Finally, a meaningful word to describe the current president.

I don't think you are allowed to sue the government without their permission!

You are correct about being unable to sue the U.S. government.
But why Tug wants himself (we, remember, are the government, and we fund it) to be "sued into the poorhouse" is beyond me.

The state department? I thought that was the DOJ's bailiwick. But never mind that Flynn's reputation and life has been ruined. He has been ruined financially and destroyed socially, but, hey, they dropped the charges. Yay! Now who is going to charge those who perpetrated the fraud, and ruin their lives as well? Won't happen.

He pleaded guilty to the charges.

But it didn’t playout that way. Streamlining means consolidation which means less specialization.
The Chinese embassy was streamlined, depriving us of early warning capability. We lost valuable time.
The unfocused NSC did not address the issue quickly, not that Trump would have heeded their advice.
We could streamline the military by merging the air force back into the army – does that seem like a good idea?
In just a few months we have more virus deaths than we had in 10 years of war in Viet Nam. And now as the country opens up it’s only going to get worse.

Sorry, LTGTTC, you are using logic and facts, which simply are not going to work on most of the folks on the far right here on OPP.

Please proved your sources for this supposed planned transition.

Actually, they should be glad because they would never have gotten here is their mothers and fathers had not been STRAIGHT!

Sorry Owl, but LGBTQ people are quite capable of conceiving, and over the years many, many have children before they come to terms with their orientation. I know a beautiful, happy straight man with a family whose parents each came out at the same time. The plumbing still works, even if they are not really enjoying it.

Sorry Carlos, but your sentence seems a little jumbled to me. Can you re-state?
Also, it's really helpful if you use "quote reply" so the post you are referencing is included, making it a little clearer.

"The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more." Michelle Obama

While this quote is attributed to Michelle Obama all over the internet, none of the sources quote its source. Was it in her book? Said in a speech? I'm not challenging that she may have said it, I just want to know the context.

In any case, you might be surprised that I do not agree with the core intent of the quote. While it may be true in the short term in funding those things in a federal budget, the zero-sum game is one played all the time by politicians on both sides of the aisle. In a healthy economy the pie continues to grow. The only ones who are afraid of losing something are the greedy, for whom there is never enough to engender satisfaction.

I have no opinion on what consenting adults do in private, because it's none of my business. When consenting adults get in my face with it, I form an opinion, and it's not favorable. I worked in a managerial capacity in Food Service for quite a while, and I personally have no problem with catering gay functions; half my damn wait staff was gay. That being said, I also have no problem with someone who feels otherwise for religious reasons. That is HIS business.
I can't help but wonder why no one has ever tried to set up and sue a Muslim business for a similar action?
I am not a Christian, but I wonder at the fact that practicing Christians seem to be singled out for lawsuits and chicken kacky. I suppose they are the Jews of the 21st Century.

I'm unaware of any confrontation with a Muslim bakery, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. If anyone knows of one please let me know.

In the meantime I found this opinion in ANS Religious News Service.
I was surprised to find that the Muslim author sided with the gay couple.

From the article:

"From an Islamic perspective, religion is not serving its purpose if human dignity is compromised. Religiously motivated discrimination goes against the Islamic principles of tolerance and protection of individual rights."
