There has been a lot of criticism of Israel in the way it is prosecuting the war against Hamas, because of the high casualty rate of Gaza civilians. I too, am upset concerning the number of casualties, but here are the facts:
1. This war was not wanted, or started by Israel. It was caused by a barbaric, and murderous attack on Israelis, and others in which over 1,200 people attending a peace concert, and small Israeli kibbutzim near the Gaza border. In this terrorist attack, men, women and children were murdered. It included rape, shooting children in front of their parents, then shooting their parents, beheadings, mangling babies, and other horrible acts not seen since the Middle Ages.
2. Hamas built its fortifications under tunnels, hospitals, schools, Mosques, in highly populated civilian sights. This was done on purpose to protect the Hamas terrorists at the cost of civilian lives.
3. Hamas has declared that it intends to repeat this massacre over, and over again. It took place at a time in which there was a cease fire with Israel.
The reasons for this mass murder was to stop the peace process that was going on between Israel, and Saudi Arabia, and other Arab states. Even the nazis tried to hide their crimes against the Jews, and others. Hamas was proud of its
war crimes, and has never tried to hide its intention to destroy Israel and murder Jews. If Israel didn't attack Hamas in its tunnel system, it could not meet its first responsibility which is to protect its citizens. Sending IDF special forces to attack the terrorists would be much more difficult, if not impossible.
Hamas knew exactly what it was doing. In times of war, other countries like Great Britain, and even Germany tried to protect its people by providing its people with underground subways. Hamas hides its fighters in its tunnel system, while refusing to offer this protection to innocent civilians. Hamas uses supplies coming in from Egypt to keep its fighters well fed and supplied, not for the benefit of its people for which it is meant.
It has taken over two hundred hostages, both alive and dead, and used them as human shields.
Israel must destroy Hamas which has proven itself to be an existential threat.
