Ukraine is a good investment, standing up to Russia is a needed characteristic of a strong nation. Ukraine is small potatoes compared to green new deal, with far greater benefits. In no way does sending aid to Ukraine impact our ability to secure our own borders.

We encouraged Ukraine to give up its nukes in 1994. The deal included a guarantee of Ukraine's territorial integrity. Now we are just asked to spend a bit of money and run down our stocks of some munitions to help Ukraine but some object after passing the trillion dollar "inflation reduction act" which was really wasting the money on green new deal. It is ridiculous to claim we cannot afford it. The munitions were stocked so we could shoot them at Russians; if the Ukrainians are doing the shooting we should be delighted.
The stocks were built to shoot at Russians. If somebody else shoots them at Russians we should be delighted.
The US pressured Ukraine to give up its nukes in exchange for a guarantee of territorial integrity. Backing Ukraine, the honorable thing to do, is costing us money, but not blood. The purpose for which we stocked those munitions we have sent to Ukraine was to shoot at Russians in case of war, so if somebody else is using them for that purpose without our soldiers being at risk we should be delighted. Yes there will be some corruption, but that should not be a reason to weaken our response. The only stable end to the conflict will be if Ukraine totally pushes Russia out. Anything else will result in guerilla war in the occupied regions. We should give Ukraine what it needs to get the job done as soon as possible.
