Solarkin: You're absolutely right. The States gave birth and life to the constitution and they have the ability to alter or abolish it as they see fit. But let's dig some more. Who exactly are the 'States'? By my view they're a collection of sovereign nations. Each is separate and independent of the others except as they have an agreement (constitution), first, "to form a more perfect Union" than had previously existed in the "perpetual Union" of the Articles of Confederation. Second, to "secure the blessings of liberty". That, at least, was the original intent.

To say that the US constitution has suffered a serious bout of 'mission creep' would be a thunderous understatement. The Federal government has surpassed it's original intent and purpose as to be unrecognizable when compared to the plain language of it's constitution. How is it that we employ a group of lawyers to read and 'interpret' the constitution for us? As far as I can tell, it is not written in some forgotten language or special code that requires expert analysis. Still, there they sit, and they are empowered with the final say on what it says and what it means. Something I would expect any high school graduate to be capable of.

No, I doubt the States will be going anywhere soon. I do detect a change in the wind and the people who make up a good portion of these States are beginning to feel the need to assert their authority over this constitution that is so easily 'misunderstood'. It's been coming for a very long time but you can thank our current President for the final straw. Daniel Greenfield put his finger on it in this very well written article here:
http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/264771/american-uprising-daniel-greenfield

These people who decry the usurpation of 'democracy' need to consider that nowhere in the constitution is the word 'democracy' even mentioned (I got $1,000,000 if you can find it). Ours is a republican form of government, meaning that we live by the rule of law, not the will of the people. If the people don't like the law, they can change it, but nobody gets lynched.

Federal Senators used to be appointed by, and answerable to, State legislatures; but now they are elected directly by, and therefore directly answerable to, the general electorate. So where's the States' voices in the Federal government? How's that for shenanigans?

"I can’t think of any reason why you would stop trying to apprehend people on a known smuggling route, in an operational plan that’s been successful like that". - There's the nub of the problem. They were successful. Had they just picked up the odd stray, there would be no change. Because the smugglers were effectively shut down, the order comes to 'stand down'.

'Sall the same to me anyways. At least now I know the best route to run my drugs in through.....

There are 3 types of lies:
There are lies
There are damn lies
And there are statistics
All polls fall under that third category.
Here's an interesting treatise on the subject of manipulating polls:

Yep, they're just another way of manipulating elections before they happen.

How to tell if your wife loves you more than your dog:
Lock them both in the garage and go out for a few hours. When you get back, see which one is happiest to see you.

My wife told me to tie her to the bed and do anything I wanted. So I tied her up good and solid then went out to the bar.

Rodeo sex:
Get coupled up real good and whisper in her ear that this is how her sister likes it too, then see how long you can hang on for.

A new scientific study discovered that women with extra weight usually live longer than men who point it out.

Why did God create Adam first and Eve second? Because he wasn’t interested in listening to anyone telling him how to make Adam.

Seems to me this guy has 'issues'. I was ecstatic when I found out that my first and only was going to be a boy. That was almost 19 years ago. What I have on my hands now is a strong, independent young man who could quite likely knock my block off. My father always said that he hoped I'd have a son just like me, and I truly have a chip off the old block; only taller and stronger. We fight like cat and dog and wouldn't have it any other way. I'm immensely proud of what we've raised. Did I mention he's smart as a whip?

According to Wikipedia:

"Major policy initiatives require approval by the legislative branch, but executive orders have significant influence over the internal affairs of government, deciding how and to what degree legislation will be enforced, dealing with emergencies, waging wars, and in general fine-tuning policy choices in the implementation of broad statutes."

In practise, they put existing legislation into effect much like the president of a business provides policy direction to his employees. Given that they are not statutory, they are subject to amendment or cancellation at any time by any sitting President. Once assuming his office, a President Trump has the authority and autonomous ability to amend or cancel any or all executive orders going back to the very first one.

Here's the current list:

President Total Orders
George Washington 8
John Adams 1
Thomas Jefferson 4
James Madison 1
James Monroe 1
John Quincy Adams 3
Andrew Jackson 12
Martin van Buren 10
William Henry Harrison 0
John Tyler 17
James K. Polk 18
Zachary Taylor 5
Millard Fillmore 12
Franklin Pierce 35
James Buchanan 16
Abraham Lincoln 48
Andrew Johnson 79
Ulysses S. Grant 217
Rutherford B. Hayes 92
James Garfield 6
Chester Arthur 96
Grover Cleveland - I 113
Benjamin Harrison 143
Grover Cleveland - II 140
William McKinley 185
Theodore Roosevelt 1,081
William Howard Taft 724
Woodrow Wilson 1,803
Warren G. Harding 522
Calvin Coolidge 1,203
Herbert Hoover 968
Franklin D. Roosevelt 3,522
Harry S. Truman 907
Dwight D. Eisenhower 484
John F. Kennedy 214

Jimmy Carter 320
Ronald Reagan 381
George H. W. Bush 166
William J. Clinton 364

Can anyone explain, with qualified references, what Congress has to do with control of executive orders? No? Didn't think so.

"On day one of his presidency, Donald Trump will be able to shred and dispose of any executive order that Obama signed into law, making them 100 percent invalid."

Naw! D'ya think?

http://townhall.com/tipsheet/justinholcomb/2016/11/10/the-list-of-executive-orders-that-trump-will-dispose-of-immediately-n2243914

Any president has the authority and ability to modify or remove any previous president's executive order(s) at whim. All the way back to day one of the republic, all on his own.

Ah, schadenfreude.
German word, original translation loosely comes out as 'malicious joy'. In English, it's thought of as 'malicious enjoyment from the suffering of another'. Poor things. I wonder how many will actually follow it through. It must be terrible for them. I hear George Lopez says he's in escrow but declines to provide a destination. Miley Cyrus posted a selfie of herself with tears dripping off the end of her nose. Maybe they can get in by claiming political asylum or something. If I was a Canadian, I'd be less than enthusiastic about all these foreigners showing up on my southern border expecting to be welcomed with open arms. Hmm, that last bit sounds familiar......
