Okay, being objective and self-reflective, despite my "pretentious" screen name, I would guess the following.

The neutral observer from a foreign country, reading the postings from James, would likely consider him to be a nice older gentleman speaking his opinions MOSTLY with civility. He would notice that the vast majority of what James has posted is opinion, devoid of fact. He would also note that those opinions have been formed from a wealth of misinformation and wonder about the sorry state of 'knowledge' in America.

If this impartial observer knew anything about how our governmental system works, regarding the House of Representatives, the Senate and the Executive (Presidency), he would be stunned that liberals think they can blame Republicans for President Obama's myriad failures when Democrats controlled the House and Senate for his first two years and still control the Senate. He would be further stunned that any American President, after five years in office, continues to blame his predecessor for all his failures. He would be ashamed for America for re-electing such a man-child.

As for myself, I have treated James with civility and respect, while courteously disagreeing with him.

VOR, firstly kudos for a polite post, actually your posts were less directly rude than others but masquerading as a death panel rep while cute actually too too cute, didn't quite fall into civil and respectful and certainly not courteous, but as said a good effort this time and not as bad as others earlier.

The polite post falls down in doing exactly what it attributes to James, frankly you both note your opinions in your posts and you likewise (more pretentiously than your name, actually the name is more a personal preference I would find it pretentious, but up to you) attribute your opinions to an impartial European observer, well...since in polls they far prefer Obama to Bush and since they are generally more liberal than Americans how reasonable is it to suppose:

1. They like a man child! your description! more than a serious fellow like Bush. Since they primarily detested Bush, recall the headline in UK newspapers How could (whatever the number was) be stupid enough to re-elect George Bush or words to that effect and certainly the economic mess he created did nothing to help their position, quite the contrary, HOW realistic is either the attributed belief that Obama is a man child or they would be ashamed of us...I believe that in opinion polls before the (re)election polls showed Europeans far preferred Obama.

2. So the attributions to a European observer are clearly your opinions/bias and objectively unlikely to be those of an educated European, in fact polls contradict that.

Your effort was polite and this is laudable, it wasn't objective at all in its attribution of your views. fortunately, we both might agree such an observer would find many of the other posts and people who include large weapons in their hands while shouting comments about Communist and Muslims, hyperbolic crazy talk, and being incredibly rude to a 91 year old man who deserves respect, something horrific and think they were like a pack of rabid foaming dogs!

So again the post was civil, kudos for that, but misleading and not really objective to any degree. But a better effort than pretending to be a death panel, of course that is an absurdity to begin with and that same European would think that objections to Obama care, which they would find overly conservative vs single payer or single provider, which by the way all have better outcomes than our crazy health care system at much lower costs, to be absurd also.

Have a good weekend and yes that is a cordial and civil wish, even though I disagree with your posts they are a far step above many of the other folks on this site.

Are you now his spokesperson?
And no, I wasn't replying to VOR.

Speaking from experience about age and senility OG? People in glass houses ? James sounds very sharp to me and he would certainly not imply such a rude thing to you despite your disjointed posts, so try a little kindness and civility!! Might surprise you.

Just how would a neutral observer reading this whole series of posts for example from Ireland or England educated and independent for arguments sake react ...he'd see a 91 year old man speaking his opinions mostly with civility and quoting facts. he would prima facie see someone trying to be impartial and before layering on their political views they would find someone worthy of respect

How would he view the pack of posters ranting about Muslims, Communists behind every bush with pretentious names like voice of reason pictures with heavy artillery in them, insulting the original poster calling a duly elected president o bastard and Obummer and al kinds of stupid childish names.

Yes he would see you the brick throwers as something like a pack of wild dogs foaming at the mouth with silly speculative nonsense that you spout over and crying revolution as if any of you had the balls and the brains to inspire anyone to follow you.

So all of you folks throwing bricks at James, spouting your silly hyperbolic charges over and over, step back and ask yourselves how would an objective viewer see you and James and feel justiably ashamed of yourself and show him the respect he deserves. that's if you could actually be objective and self reflective!

BTW, James doing fine on his own. just saying the above on the extremely unlikely possibility some of you could actually be self reflective and step back and look at your posts and change, again unlikely but worth a shot. And yes all the hate speech and denigrating comments and charges are the much more likely result!

What a surprise Fox and associated propaganda sites lied and the old folks with hardened arteries ate it up like pablum!!!

Issa is a disgrace who substitutes false and misleading nonsense and wasteful investigations for actually doing his supposed job. When the head of the investigation committee repeatedly lies and calls others like Carney paid liars it's just a sad joke...if you saw his attempted saving face lie speech to the committee about how they shouldn't jump to conclusions and say negative things about the President without proof...haha he was the only one doing it so he was essentially actually talking to himself (of course not listening) and for people silly enough to believe he had any shread of integrity and wasn't just a thug and an ineffective one at that.

Perhaps you are unaware that the survey you cited is from June 2012 - perhaps you would have liked the world to stop then. In order to criticize this current administration one need to hate Obama. I guess I'm just a person loaded with hate because I criticized Bush too.

Lack of intellectual heft forces you Obamaists to resort to the hate meme in order to support him

see The last post. You noted a survey of Americans when we were talking about other countries! Better luck next time but don't crow too soon is the lesson to be learned!z

Dude wake up we were posting about other countries not the US and you note a poll about the US, so your trump is a dud! Nice try if I was asleep!! disapproval of Americans of foreign policy is not disapproval by other countries!

I'm not Catholic, but, so far, what I have heard about/from the new Pope, I am impressed. I am also impressed with both your posts/comments, and civility....with the possible exception of the "bricks" reference. You represent your beliefs very well, as well as your Church. It speaks well of you, also, to align yourself, somewhat, with rumitoid. He is well thought of by many, including myself.

Of course, that may be to his detriment, in some eyes.

Thanks for kind comments, sometimes the bricks come out almost involuntarily against such silly self righteous posters throwing stones, or even boulders, haha, but good advice, will try to avoid that.

As to rumitoid your respect is warranted, he is often the voice of reason, with no such pretension as others who give themselves that posting name, when they post quite contrary to that prideful name!!

OG, did you get so confused impersonating someone else you answered this post and told VOR he didn't understand anything? and then disrespected a sincere 91 year old man with much more class than you any day, child!!!!

I think he also has the right at age 91 not to be called an idiot for expressing his views and not acting childish like you old gringo.

Anyway, I'm glad that you agree that under Obamacare rationing will be required, but I'm disappointed that you think age should be the only factor in determining it.

You are right about the living will, though. Everybody should have one.

If your popes are so great, why don't they condemn the child rapers in the church. They just move them somewhere else or send them to the Vatican. The catholic church is discussing and will be judge one day.

We look for the new pope to be discussing this and take some action, or allow others to, the last Pope was a prime co-conspirator who cared about his priests more than his flock, this Pope seems different.

If you meant to say disgusting, the actions of a number of Priests were reprehensible and they should have been defrocked. If you meant to say judged (not judge which seems your specialty) yes they will be judged as will you!

So far the new Pope seems to have little to be judged harshly for and much to be admired for.
