Okay, being objective and self-reflective, despite my "pretentious" screen name, I would guess the following.
The neutral observer from a foreign country, reading the postings from James, would likely consider him to be a nice older gentleman speaking his opinions MOSTLY with civility. He would notice that the vast majority of what James has posted is opinion, devoid of fact. He would also note that those opinions have been formed from a wealth of misinformation and wonder about the sorry state of 'knowledge' in America.
If this impartial observer knew anything about how our governmental system works, regarding the House of Representatives, the Senate and the Executive (Presidency), he would be stunned that liberals think they can blame Republicans for President Obama's myriad failures when Democrats controlled the House and Senate for his first two years and still control the Senate. He would be further stunned that any American President, after five years in office, continues to blame his predecessor for all his failures. He would be ashamed for America for re-electing such a man-child.
As for myself, I have treated James with civility and respect, while courteously disagreeing with him.

VOR, firstly kudos for a polite post, actually your posts were less directly rude than others but masquerading as a death panel rep while cute actually too too cute, didn't quite fall into civil and respectful and certainly not courteous, but as said a good effort this time and not as bad as others earlier.
The polite post falls down in doing exactly what it attributes to James, frankly you both note your opinions in your posts and you likewise (more pretentiously than your name, actually the name is more a personal preference I would find it pretentious, but up to you) attribute your opinions to an impartial European observer, well...since in polls they far prefer Obama to Bush and since they are generally more liberal than Americans how reasonable is it to suppose:
1. They like a man child! your description! more than a serious fellow like Bush. Since they primarily detested Bush, recall the headline in UK newspapers How could (whatever the number was) be stupid enough to re-elect George Bush or words to that effect and certainly the economic mess he created did nothing to help their position, quite the contrary, HOW realistic is either the attributed belief that Obama is a man child or they would be ashamed of us...I believe that in opinion polls before the (re)election polls showed Europeans far preferred Obama.
2. So the attributions to a European observer are clearly your opinions/bias and objectively unlikely to be those of an educated European, in fact polls contradict that.
Your effort was polite and this is laudable, it wasn't objective at all in its attribution of your views. fortunately, we both might agree such an observer would find many of the other posts and people who include large weapons in their hands while shouting comments about Communist and Muslims, hyperbolic crazy talk, and being incredibly rude to a 91 year old man who deserves respect, something horrific and think they were like a pack of rabid foaming dogs!
So again the post was civil, kudos for that, but misleading and not really objective to any degree. But a better effort than pretending to be a death panel, of course that is an absurdity to begin with and that same European would think that objections to Obama care, which they would find overly conservative vs single payer or single provider, which by the way all have better outcomes than our crazy health care system at much lower costs, to be absurd also.
Have a good weekend and yes that is a cordial and civil wish, even though I disagree with your posts they are a far step above many of the other folks on this site.
