It figures a conservative would defend the Rodney King looters. As for the 1968 Democratic Convention.... that was actually triggered by questionable police actions.

This from Wikipedia...
August 28, 1968 came to be known as the day a "police riot" took place. The title of "police riot" came out of the Walker Report, which amassed a great deal of information and eyewitness accounts to determine what happened in Chicago.[20] At approximately 3:30 pm, a young boy lowered the American flag at a legal rally taking place at Grant Park. The demonstration was made up of 10,000 protesters.[11] The police broke through the crowd and began beating the boy, while the crowd pelted the police with food, rocks, and chunks of concrete

Can't say I blame the protesters for that one. The lowering of the flag was symbolic and wasn't physically harming anyone. The police were the ones that initiated the violence. BTW, that WAS an anti-Vietnam rally and I contend that whatever violence happened in the course of protesting the war was not planned but provoked, while the war they were protesting was an exercise in nothing less than premeditated genocide. And what exactly were we defending anyway? The North Vietnamese won that war. They chased us out and Saigon fell to the communists - and yet back in America we carried on like nothing happened. It's one thing to rattle sabers and to justify military action by calling it a defense against a threat to the American way of life (which is exactly what the war hawks were saying) but when you loose and the enemy leaves you alone, it kind of takes the truth out the sermon.

What a great thought-if it was going to destroy America as we know it, and we lost, and it did not, perhaps the same can be said for Obamacare. I have seen baggers compare Obamacare to slavery..those false hyperboles will come back to haunt, just as the Vietnam war did.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the deficit either, but what I call crazy is the fact that we've been building up this deficit for the past 30 years and only just decided it's not a good idea. It's not like Obama came in and just cranked it up. Almost all of the deficit increase since he took office is in overdue payments on debt incurred during previous administrations and it doesn't help that the dollar is worth much less now than it was when most of these debts were incurred. Then you add interest on top of all that because you KNOW we have to pay interest on debt.

I'm never sure if people are just too stupid to figure this out or if they simply refuse to acknowledge basic math for the sake of having a scapegoat to blame. Either way, they come off looking very stupid.

You must be one of those who at least understands the concept because you explained it in your post... You said "the National Deficit is unreachable to fix for many generations." That means there will be future presidents that will inherit the deficit and don't be surprised when future idiots blame the future president for all of it.

Fact is - you take the due payments on debt incurred in previous administrations out of the equation and Obama winds up looking real good. When it comes to new spending, Obama doesn't even come close to Bush.

Great Post-the deficit is coming down faster than ever in recent memory and is now at the level when Obama took office, at the depth of the recession. Im astonished at all the debt hawks coming out of the woodwork who were blind to the debts of Reagan and Bush 2.

Agreed. Immigrants don't seem to assimilate in France, but they seem to do so in the US. We must be doing something right that France is doing wrong.

Homestead, these people have an axe to grind, namely to scare you into buying the gold and silver they are selling. Seriously, the deficit is coming down, and quickly, and is now at the level it was when Obama took office at the beginning of the recession. The short term deficit is coming down, but LONG term, it still looks bad, due to the aging population and the growth in the medicare and social security payments, with fewer workers to support those payments. We need immigration reform to get more workers paying into social security and medicare, and some changes in both systems-such as why would we not collect ss taxes on all income-not stopping at the 106K per year as we currently do. That would fix up a lot off the gap right there, but repugs are dead set on cutting benefits to seniors and the poor, to make sure the folks making 106K and over do not pay anymore.

For some reason, no one seems to care much about the National Deficit, as well as the various states Deficits to add to it. The country is bankrupt, far past bankrupt actually. I care, and I trust Boehner cares as well to where he will continue trying to take measures to bring it down, even to the Govt shutdowns. Every budget passed is raising that Dept Limit, further and further into the red. Obama and his Dems obviously don't care. Real money or play money, they don't care and spend it just the same- and faster than you can say "don't."

The deficit has been coming down faster than in any time in recent memory. It has been coming down too fast, which has kept the economy from growing as fast as it could of. McConnel will be primaried, probably lose to a bagger, and in the general election, the dems will win, and keep the Senate. Nice work, Teddy, but for the wrong side. Teddy is a selfish bastard-he made out with lots of old peoples campaign contributions, is in a safe district, but he damaged the republican brand and will be handing the house to the dems. But that is the republican mantra, isn't it-more for me and screw everyone else. His selfishness will help the country, by electing more democrats.

Why must the government always put the topic of "Social Security" as one of their main topics about cutting finances? They should not have anything at all to do with what belongs to any senior person at all. We need a separate business (or whatever) to handle everything for social security and the federal government needs "HANDS OFF" completely. Their finances should be handled by the income tax received only and nothing more. The government has no right to continually throw social security in our face all of the time. Social security belongs to all of the seniors who have paid in it for years and years - not the federal government.

Well, the repugs are going to demand reductions in entitlement spending, social security payments in exchange for reductions in military spending. So..if you want to protect social security, you better start voting democratic. Repugs are the ones that want to make medicare a voucher, and chain CPI so social security payments go up much more slowly. In exchange, the repugs want cut tax cuts for the rich and to keep buying bombers. That is the grand bargain-seniors gettting less money and billionaires get tax breaks, all why we spend more on the military than the next 12 largest military spending countries combined. Yeah, you tea baggers, those repubs have your best interests at heart.

The proof was the note above the video that said "EDITED VIDEO". It was a joke, you can read it right there. You did not get it. Obama, if he was not "no drama Obama" surely would have been pissed enough about the 28 billion the tea bagger tantrum took about of the economy for NO GOOD REASON, would have wanted to kick in a door. He did not.

Most Americans want a better healthcare system. The Republicans couldn't come up with anything. Obama did. Our democracy voted on it and every time Obamacare came out on top because most people actually WANT it.

The Republicans can't stand it. They tried 41 times to get rid of it and each time the American majority said no - we want to keep it.

Obama is not the one threatening to shut down the government, he's just the one making sure people understand that's what the Republicans are willing to do to win their little game. The Republicans are the ones threatening to shut down the government if Obamacare isn't defunded because obviously, they aren't satisfied with the will of the people.

Thank God most Americans aren't stupid enough to fall for the Tea Party lies and antics. It saves me from saying that the GOP is the biggest threat to the American people.

Dr. Ben Carson didn’t hold back when discussing Obamacare Friday at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, DC. In an impassioned speech, the former Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon said the Affordable Care Act is the “worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery.”

And, it was never about health care; it was about control,” he said, “and that’s why – that’s why when this administration took office it didn’t matter that the country was going off the cliff economically. Slavery=insurance companies having to SELL insurance to everyone, even those with pre-existing conditions?? I bet a lot of 18th century slaves would have LOVED to trade their bondage chains for a insurance plan. Write again when you can use NORMAL language.
