Getting old is not fun. Staying alive is more of a chore every day. What is it that makes us get up & keep going? I guess it is just that we want to pass the test of living another day just to see what it brings.

come on y'all...they are allllll bad in our..i repeat " our "..govt!...we need to clean house for real!

Sad to say but we can't look to government to solve our problems. They have been bought out by the monied interests.

If we are to save our self it has to start with us. We have to hear & be heard. Only in opening our eyes & ears to what is happening will we have a chance to fixing what is wrong. Coming on sites like this & bad mouthing each other is not going to work. Both sides need to look for the answers needed together.

If we want a better place to live it will only come if those of us on sites like this can look for the answers needed. Calling each other names only plays into the hands that pull the strings over us. Those that have the power are happy when the masses waste their time as we seem to being now calling each other names.

I am doing okay for an old man. But I know that if the man next door gets a couple of extra dollars I will be more secure than if the 1% takes more from us.

So if you think that the poor are taking your money take a look around & see where all of the money is. Where is most of your money going? If you think by kissing someones back side to get by is the way to go to be better off, just keep puckered up & things will not get any better for you.

If we are to survive. We can only survive if we have cooperation with others. Being liberal means cooperating with others. If we don't care for our fellow man & he don't care for us we will not survive as a livable world.

A liberal shows some care for others.

A conservative cares only for him self & his kind.
He has & wants to keep what he has & to get more. The others be dammed.

From where I sit that could be equally applied to both sides. Too bad you waste so much time attacking and counterattacking each other while the great American Ship of Dreams slowly slips beneath the waves. I have no illusions about getting a positive response to this. Common sense and reason are still on vacation and will be until the Godzilla of our nightmares is at the door.

Well said Eden

Yes there is. My son went to school for wind energy. He told me that each one of those giant turbines takes 10 years to pay for themselves. I drive by a jillion of them every day, and it seems like half of em aren't turning. He tells me if they aren't turning they're broken. They get huge government subsidies to put them up. Doesn't sound very efficient to me.

I would say that the turbines that were not turning was because there was now easy way to use the energy.

Because there isn't a good way to store the energy at this time a system has to be in place to meet the demands for peak power. So until a system of batteries is had wind power isn't used to its full extent.

I know from my own experience this article is full of it. There is so much crap in this article it is hard to find a spot to start!

I happen to be developing an off-grid property, and my experience is that solar and wind power are FAR more expensive than coal power. A 4Kw 15-panel solar power set-up happens to run around $55,000.00 - I know, I installed one. Add a 3.5Kw wind generator and you're looking at another $28,000. At an average of $200/mo electric bill and you're looking at a payback of 25 years for just the solar. Solar panels last about 20 years, and wind generators far less. Wind generators in the location where I am building last only 2 to 5 years, and when repairing one that company usually has gone out of business. I can save a lot of money by just paying $10,000 and connect to a coal-powered grid.

I'm not knocking green energy, it's just that IT IS NOT CHEAP! I like my solar system that I installed, but it wasn't cheap. Plus, you have to change your whole way of living on solar...you just can't add, or turn on anything you want at any time. Not unless, you have a couple hundred grand laying around to build a huge system. They also take a lot of battery maintenance - the battery system cost me $11,000 alone and only lasts about 10 years if maintained properly. My neighbor had the same battery system and failed to maintain it properly, and he has gone through two systems (on his third battery system) in just three years.

And, it only works well in certain parts of the country.
I know from my own experience this article is full... (show quote)

The price for privacy don't come cheap. I feel sure that those that will follow in your foot steps will find better ways to do what you do. But we are talking about the big picture & I don't want to live with the air filled with wood or coal fumes.

Having lived in the time of wood stoves & the smoke from a few not so near houses wasn't to bad. But having spent a winter on an army base with coal fired heat the air wasn't very good.

I've noticed a disappointing trend lately. Each day brings several new "faces", with ever more liberal subject matter. There have been a lot of liberals hitting us with snarly 'replies for a while, but now, the topics have been skewed to the left, too. Or is it my imagination?

I would like to think that if one is seeking truth one would like to hear many voices. Not echos.

I have passed on joining AARP because it seemed that as an older person I would be seeking help that would in a way come from my children. Also I feel that there are way to many special interest groups.

As I see it Teabaggers have some thing they want to keep & think that if others may get something it will come from them.

Ah yes, there may be more definitions of insanity but this one is a really good one, especially in the US with Obamacare.

If one seeks to find insanity one only needs to look to Congress.
