If you mean that MSNBC doesn't stress the story you like and instead stresses the story you don't like, I understand your anger. But bear in mind that stories on both sides are printed or aired.

It would appear that you don't want some of the stories to appear. And you are biased aginst the stories you don't like, true or not.

Marvin: I'm not angry about anything. the purpose of the thread is to point out the perception that the majority of the media is in bed with the left (literally as well as figuratively). I truly think, for instance, that Bill and Hillary are just awful people who have gotten away with crimes since the earliest days in Arkansas. If I had done what Bill had done in my management position, I would have been fired immediately. Those two have never been vetted by the media, and if it hadn't been for the blue dress, he would have gotten away with that sexual harassment also. It was just one of many.

Of course it's true I am biased. Everyone is. MSNBC doesn't stress or unstress. It hides and obfuscates. I want all stories to appear without being shouted down as racist, sexist or xenophobic. I couldn't imagine the students of Hillsdale College shouting down a left wing diatribe, but on the left, it is routine to cancel appearances by the like of Condoleeza Rice at universities where diversity of opinion should be celebrated.

You say you don't want to discuss media bias? Too bad, I'm going to. That's the topic of this thread. If you don't want to discuss it, you should run over to another post and comment there. Or better yet run over to Huffpo where no one will argue with you.

What does your rant have to do with the truth? You implied that the media lies deliberately or at least shades the truth. That is a serious charge. If you have relevant examples of either, list them and point out the untruth with true and verified facts. Otherwise, you have only muddied the community waters with your own bias.

Does everybody with a relative in government have to take vows and enter a monastery or a convent?

Marvin: I am thoroughly aware that correlation does not mean causation, but if you are seriously suggesting there is no media bias among the major news contributors, I suggest you are delusional. From Cronkite (an admitted new world order guy) to Rather (who was fired for lying for the left) to their illegitimate children at MSNBC and the New York Times, the MSM is FULL of left wing sycophants. And if you think pillow talk or discussions at Thanksgiving dinner don't include the goings on between the WH and their lovers and siblings at the major news outlets, I once again suggest delusion.

Here is one discussion on media bias. Google and YouTube can give you a thousand more.

I always get such a kick out of the President demonizing Fox News. The ratings for their biggest show (the O'Reilly Factor) is about 3.3 Mil on a very good night. In contrast, the Obama sycophants at ABC World News Tonight get about 8.3 Mil. The servile big three had 8 times the viewers of Fox's biggest show.

To be relevant, you should have listed implied untruths with verified truths and their source. If you can't do that, you have only proved your own bias.

Marvin: What would you do for you blood? Father, Mother, Sister, Brother, Wife (yes I know she's only blood by injection) child? Would you lie? Cheat? Steal? Fight a tiger? Do you, having come from similar backgrounds, feel an affinity for the thoughts and feelings your family holds dear? How far would you go to aid them? My brother and his family were hit by a drunk driver 1200 miles from me. I told him I would drop everything and come and get him with my van (he rented one). My daughter flipped her car having fallen asleep at the wheel. I DID drop everything to be by her side. Do you think those people listed wouldn't do the same? Don't you think they would do almost anything to protect them? Nurture them? Support them? There's no need to show collusion. It's a given in the nature of man.

Produce some "facts" not your beliefs about someone elses religion... you have even less proof of the spruriousness of their beliefs,,,, than you have proof of your so called science of evolution,,,,

If there is more factual evidence you need to show it,,, so far all you have done is give anecdotal evidence for your point,,,, and disparaged others for belief systems,,,,,, when your version of science is more a superstition than you claim their religion to be.....

Your ignorance of your own supposed religion is almost as boundless as your ability to misinterpret and plain old not understand the written language.

I believe very little of what is written in the christian bible. I don't think the earth is six thousand years old (you blew that one), Birds are heavier than air (that one too), and empty proclamations of belief are just that.

If, for instance, the fossil record as displayed in, say, a natural history museum is not convincing enough to prove the earth is probably billions of years old, nothing I say on this page would be either.

When you get the squiggly line under a word, it means it's misspelled, right-click it and it will give you suggestions for correcting it.

The rest of what you write,,, is just belittling of others beliefs,,,, BELIEFS,,,,, they have never,,, at least in my world,,, claimed they knew "everything"....

Your contention,,, that because christians dont know everything therefore their beliefs are false and of course hateful,,,, isnt valid.... a belief system does not require proof,,, now your idea that your beliefs are based on science,,,,, actually requires the same suspension of facts..... since there isnt a single thing you can actully prove validating the THEORY of evolution.....

Still,,, I believe that some evolution likely occurred,,,,, I dont believe in origin of species,,,, chemically that cannot happen,,, and that is what sweetlips said......
Where the hell do you get that 6000 year crap,,,, ... (show quote)

The 6000 year "crap" as you so delicately put it was derived from the bible by the lineages given IN THE BIBLE from Adam and Eve through Abraham to Joseph. The ages were given, added up, and thus the approximate age of the earth.

What if I "choose" to cheat on my wife, but don't "choose" eternal torment?

Flight was never considered magic. We have seen birds fly since the dawn of man. Probably about 6-7 million years ago.

My contention isn't "Christians don't know everything", it's that there isn't any evidence to back it up. To say god put fossils in the ground just to screw with us, as opposed to being evidence of an evolutionary scale is ludicrous.

as really stupid or maybe just plain dumb. Could be. It appears that Mr. Dawkins and these people are somewhat intelligent, so i have a few questions that have puzzled me for sometime.
.

If you believe in evolution, then we are here by accident, it looks like that the only way we could be here is by accident or on purpose.
So if not by accident, who's purpose. So please, Mr. Dawkins, tell us how many accidents (mutations)did it take to get from a single cell
"something" to a human being, and please include the number of mutations that was bad. Some say as many as 99% of mutations are bad, like maybe 3 legs, 1 arm, 12 toes, etc. Also tell us how often these mutations took place. The odds of all the right amino acids getting together at the exact right time and then to get a kick starter at that time.

take for instance the alaskan ptarmigan, turns white in winter, camo brown in summer, how many colors and at what times did it take for this bird to get the right mutation.
oh, i know, i here it all the time," mother nature has taken care of this". I would like to meet this mother nature that is so smart and has the power to do all these things.I thought nature was just a mixture of all living things, trees, grass, birds, fish, etc.
If mother nature takes care to see that her creatures have what they need to survive, just how does she do it?
Does the trees, grass, animals, fish, etc have a conference call to decide who gets what or what something might need.
I have lived in the country or very small town(600 pop) all my life. Have worked on farms, been a honey bee keeper, had livestock, hunted and
fished and have yet to meet this "mother nature" face to face.

Sweetlips:

Exactly what, then, is your contention? If you are a Christian, and follow the bible as the word of God, then you believe (or should) the world is about 6,000 years old. It was created in six days, and the first two humans were Adam and Eve. If you're Hindu, you think the world is billions of years old and things go in cycles. Also, time will end in about 400,000 years.
Muslims aren't too sure about the Earth's age. That's Allah's business. Buddhists think it has been around forever. Aristotle thought the same.

Mr. Dawkins thinks differently. You ask numerous questions about why evolution takes strange turns, like the changing of a birds plumage. Richard doesn't claim to have all of the answers, he just doesn't think it was done by magic. He doesn't think Vishnu or Allah or Rah or Buddha or God got it in their head one day that they were lonely and wanted company and just started making stuff and people. This also begs the question, who made God or Allah or Vishnu?

It would be comforting to think that upon my demise, I would be sitting on puffy clouds with 72 Virginians (I would like to talk to Jefferson though) or is that virgins? I don't think this God everyone talks about would sentence anyone to eternal burning agony for being unfaithful to their wife of taking his name in vain. If you are a devout Christian, you do. I am not good because of the threat of this unending torment. I don't initiate force on others because I know how I react when others initiate force on me and I wouldn't want that to happen to me. Maybe you need hell to be good, I don't.

Do I think the evolutionary theory has merit? Evidence points that way. Do I think the 'Big Bang' happened? I don't know, but something happened to make all matter disperse somewhat symmetrically from a central location. Do I think there are ghosts, UFO's, and Yetis? I have seen no convincing evidence. I'm going with 'no'.

I don't know what makes me appreciate a sunrise or a rainbow or The Rolling Stones. How did evolution lead me to this? I don't know. Neither does Richard Dawkins. We just don't think it was magic.

Oil is produced based on demand for that product. The higher the demand the higher the price. The lower the demand the lower the price. If the price is dropping, as it is, than that's indicative of weak demand. So by bringing in more Canadian oil the less domestic oil will be produced and the less domestic oil produced the higher the layoffs in the oil industry. We don't need more foreign oil. Bringing it in will just destroy our own domestic market...

Oil's price is dictated on a global scale. We cannot dictate another country's production of same. Just because we are not sending it to our refineries (creating jobs) doesn't mean the Canadians won't produce it and put it on the said world market. The only difference the pipeline will make is to not ship it stupidly by rail, raising prices. If you all want to look into conspiracies, find out why BHO wants to move oil by rail instead of pipeline!

Oil in this country is already shutting down from over production. Why import more oil foreign oil causing more US companies to shut down? Isn't this about creating jobs in the US? So how can we do that if we force oil prices even lower?

Peter: It isn't up to you or me or anyone but the producer of a product to decide whether or not he wants to produce more of that product. If it comes to a point where it is economically unfeasible to produce oil, he will stop and find something else to do, or he will starve. When enough people stop producing oil, the price will rise. When it gets high enough, people will go back into the production of oil. It's the way the free market works. Unfortunately, for the last half century, a thuggish group of producers (OPEC) has kept the price artificially high. This has backfired on them, as the higher prices made oil production from shale (fracking) feasible. The producers of oil took the chance on prices remaining high enough to make their toil profitable. There were winners and losers. Just like a pride of lions and a herd of gnus, some made it, and some did not.

For too long, the balance of gnus and lions has been artificially cast. Canada and the USA (along with the production of natural gas) have restored some of the balance. Over production and the concurrent drop in price cures itself. Let the free market build the pipeline. It may usher in the fall of the house of Saud!

What a tease! Come on, tell us! I was 8 years old when JFK was shot. I wanna know. I don't believe much of anything the government tells us, but if these powers-that-be are truly the puppet masters you make them out to be, why didn't they just get people elected who would get along with them? Or strong arm the people who were assassinated instead of killing them?
