The frequency of 90 degree days in the US has been plummeting for 80 years, and 2014 has had the lowest frequency of 90 degree days through July 23 on record. The only other year which came close was 1992, and that was due to dust in the atmosphere from Mt Pinatubo.

You do also realize that the Us is an anomaly, and that May and June were the warmest May and June ever recorded, worldwide.

Are those my only choices?

Well, I can't get Fox News on my TV, so I guess by your standards, the answer would be no.

But I'm not in a coma, as far as I can tell. I did try to sleep through the Bush years, but I wasn't too successful.

Does your church's Bible have these verses in it:

"Next he [the Son of Man] will say to those on his left hand, 'Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you never gave me food; I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink; I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, naked and you never clothed me, sick and in prison, and you never visited me.' Then it will be their turn to ask, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or naked, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?' Then he will answer, 'I tell you solemnly, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me.' And they will go away to eternal punishment, and the virtuous to eternal life."

You need to get out of Leviticus and go to Matthew 26 to find it.

Bill Maher is hard on liberals when they do or say stupid things, are hypocritical, or seem to forget the ideals they campaigned on.

I gladly admit to being one of those "useless Obama hacks" and a "pea-brained, pin-headed nitwit," as the Dutchman so nicely described me, and I would like to abandon Obama for a real liberal -- contrary to what a lot of the posters on this website think, he is a moderate conservative, as Bill Clinton was. But I certainly am not going to abandon him or the Democratic Party for the current batch of Republicans and their banana republic policies.

I'm from Minnesota, and a few decades ago, we had a Republican senator, Dave Durenberger, and a Republican governor, Arne Carlson, who were sensible and principled. I didn't vote for them, but I did respect them. They would be drummed out of today's Republican party in a heartbeat. That's sad.

I don't think you'd be too happy in Canada. Even their conservatives are more liberal than our liberals.

Although their middle class is doing a lot better than ours is.

Did it seem likely that these storeowners would advertise that they were closing to honor one of the 9-11 hijackers? Wouldn't the weirdness of that idea get you take a minute to Google Imam Ali and find out who he really was before you posted this? Obviously not.

I am one of those "dumb shits that can't see the light." Perhaps you can enlighten me. What did Obama say he was going to do and then do that you object to so much?

My problem is that he hasn't been able to do many of the things he said he was going to do, but I think that is mainly because Congress, blue dog Democrats as well as Republicans, have been extremely effective at preventing things from happening.

I think Obamacare was a small step in the right direction, but no president in the last hundred years was able to even make that small step, though most of them tried. It should be easier to take the next step, once the Republicans in the House stop trying to repeal Obamacare, which they almost seem ready to do.

He is trying to get us out of two "wars" (I put that in quotation marks, because we haven't fought a declared war since World War II) and right the ship of state that was capsizing when he took office.

As for all those countries you list, who do you think they'd rather have for an ally, us, the Russians, the Chinese, or someone else? I'm guessing they'd all choose the United States.

So I suppose you also know that you are quoting Paul's epistle TO the Romans, written in the middle of the first century CE? However, you also need to consider what James, who Paul calls "the brother of the Lord," says in his epistle: "You see now that it is by doing something good, and not only by believing, that a man is justified." (James 2:24)

Well, I can check the yes box for liberal, voted for Obama the second time, "believe in" global warming and the theory of evolution. So I guess I'm just a little less than equal.

By the way, I really like what Bill Maher said about "belief": I don't "believe" that water boils at 212 degrees, that's how hot it is when it happens. It's not ideology, it's soup.

This one is mine: You don't have to "believe" in gravity to get hit by a falling apple.

Doesn't it seem strange to you that Obama is a Muslim who supports gay (okay, homosexual) marriage? He must not be a very good Muslim, right?

So what I get out of all this is that you don't like gays very much and you feel your HMO is screwing you over. Won't they let you hang your Confederate flag on your door?

Wow, I think you guys might have missed one or two homophobic slurs in this exchange. But only one or two.

I think an unreconstructed segretationist might have similar things to say about "race mixing."
