Of course she's looking for attention. Are you seriously not aware of how activism works?

Well, it's a lot easier for us to make a comedy out of right-wing politics because you folks always set yourselves up for ridicule. That's why we have all the comedians on late night TV and you got... Hannity and well, people who are just angry and crying all the time.

Well, since YOU are the one taking personal offense maybe YOU should take your ball and go home.

Well, I understand you're projecting your own psychology here, but people who can think for themselves (you might want to sit down for this one) don't allow media personalities to dictate their perception.

I do agree with you however that nothing said has damaged the "inevitable" reelection of Donny John. After all, you can't damage something that doesn't exist. Reelecting that slimeball has NEVER been inevitable.

The fact that trump blocked the people with first hand knowledge from speaking should tell even trumpsters that he is hiding the truth.

I think you're right... Trump's secrecy shouldn't be fooling anyone, not even the most retarded Trump supporters. The key here is knowing that his supporters don't care. Trump was right when he said he could shoot someone in the street and his supporters will STILL rally behind him.

The problem is that the fanatic-right is so filled with resentment toward the left that they will support ANYONE who can stage a spectacle of revenge against them and this is what Trump does. His entire agenda is dictated by attacking the left in ways that he thinks will score points with his base.

After all those Republican presidents that didn't do enough to attack the left, ya think they're going to give up the one a$$hole that does, just because he tried to bribe a foreign government?

We both know better. The Constitution is not as important to them as their resentment.

The polarization of America is frightening.

I think it's invigorating. It's like America is finally waking up to the ugly truth that has always been there.

Bull Moose wrote:

As a retired boomer I’m amazed at the tribalism that has occurred across our country.

I'm not surprised in the least.

Bull Moose wrote:

Trump continues to pour gasoline on the division that he thrives on.

Unfortunately, this is a time-tested political strategy that has proven to be an effective way for a politician to gain power over a democracy he doesn't agree with.

Bull Moose wrote:

I am so burnt out on Trump and his family. We need politicians that unite the country not slice it up like a loaf of bread.

I try not to pay attention to his family of over-protected retards and focus instead of the policies that affect us real people. If we pay more attention to those policies and less attention to the "look at me" family we can start to see where the division actually is.

Every single policy of significance supported by Trump as been an attack on the American working class. Not just the left or the right, but ANY American family who depends on work to survive. None of these issues come up on OPP much because people here tend to be led by their chosen media feeds which are mostly filled with distractions and lies. It's great for people who love to troll, but not so great for understanding real problems.

Last year I posted a few threads on some of the policies I've studied that reveal what kind of "president" Trump really is. Feel free to have a look. You will notice Trump fans have very little to say about any of these issues, probably because they don't know about them because Fox "News" isn't going to tell them.

Trump's Attacks on the Working Class: 1 - The Fiduciary Rule

Trump's Attacks on the Working Class: 2 - The Tax Cuts

Trump's Attacks on the Working Class: 3 - Forced Arbitration

So like I said... if you focus on the policies being set instead of the personalities of cult, you should start to notice that while the supposed "50/50" split is creating a lot of noise it's the "1/99" split that is dictating our lives. I would love to see the 99% unite and I am hoping the 2020 elections will help pave the way by removing Trump from the office he never deserved.

I also agree with that.

Canuckus Deploracus wrote:

Disagree concerning the cause...

Bull Moose wasn't suggesting a cause... He was saying that Trump is "pouring gasoline on the division that he thrives on". That would suggest the division was already there and Trump is simply exacerbating it. On that point I also agree with him.

Trump thrives on the division, which is why he gets compared to the fascists of the mid-20th century that made that political technique so famous.

If the democrats have built as strong a case as they say they have against Trump why do they need more witnesses in the Senate?

They don't. They already have enough evidence from the hearings to pass the articles of impeachment which they will be doing today. Then it goes to trial in the Senate. Obviously, the prosecution HAS more witnesses to call or Moscow Mitch would not have taken the unprecedented step in denying them. Obviously, those witnesses were not desperately needed or the Democrats would be disputing Mitch on this. Instead, Adam Schiff actually announced that they don't need those witnesses to make the case and won't be pursuing their right to call them.

So.. there we go.

LOL - the evidence is treasonous? I'm sure you meant to say the evidence points to treason. But I think you're faux pas is closer to the truth. Republicans are trying to obstruct an investigation into a president charged with secretly conspiring with foreign governments. That obstruction, including the unfounded claims presented as "evidence" is treasonous.

BECAUSE HE DOESN'T HAVE TO ● Period

Period, nothing... Whether he has to or not, is up for debate. When the founding fathers were writing up the original laws to maintain anti-tyrannical checks on the president they didn't think about the possibility of a dysfunctional Congress. So they didn't think they would have to spell everything out for the Republicans in 2019.

But that's not the issue that comes to mind first. What is inescapable is that his refusal to cooperate is a dead give-away and everyone knows it. People don't hide from the law unless they've done something wrong. Even if the voters never find out what he is hiding, they will more likely vote against him in 2020 just knowing that he IS hiding something. The People want a president they can trust.

On the other hand, if he really has nothing to hide, his full cooperation would be the best way to shut the Democrats up.

So, the fact that he refuses to cooperate (whether you think he has that right or not) confirms one of two things... a) He is incredibly stupid or b) he is hiding something that he doesn't want the American people to know.

So you can say whatever you want, but none of your words can hold a candle to his actions.

She is teenage climate activist who keeps screaming at us "How dare you!!" and who is now on the cover of Time magazine as Person of the Year!!!

Just about the entire educated population of the world believes climate change is the most serious problem confronting humanity today. Meanwhile, politicians continue to "negotiate" and excuse their way through a succession of summits resulting in too little, too late.

Greta is the most visible example of innocent youth telling it like it is, with a very simple, even childish message that underscores the simple truth of the matter that even a "child" can understand... That the older generations have essentially screwed the Earth that the youth now have to inherit.

THIS is why she made person of the year. But the real news here is how Trump got so pissed off, because he thinks HE should be the person of the year.

Trump, a 73 year-old man who the EC elected to the Oval Office actually trash-talked a child out of self-centered envy. WOW! Most adults wouldn't even think of doing that much less a "president".

Seems to me like Trump is the one that should chill.

Ha, ha, ha!!! (Trump, chill) Like that could EVER happen. Trump doesn't have a cool cell in his body. He's basically a vat of shaking fat with little hands poking out, giving everyone the finger. LOL

Question? Could a farmer survive today if he ran his farm the way he wanted to and told the government to take a hike with their mandates and crop insurance?

Peewee - farmers haven't been able to do that since the Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1933, when the government first started to subsidize farmers and they've been subsidized ever since. There isn't a farmer alive today that can say he doesn't depend on the government.

The point Barracuda is making is that the subsidies have been increased (by a LOT) under Trump as a direct consequence of his trade tariffs and it's creating more debt for us.

I know you folks are being told that the tariffs will somehow fix the "unfair" trade advantage that you think the Chinese have over us, but so far that hasn't happened. Trump has NOT renegotiated ANYTHING with the Chinese yet. He slaps tariffs on Chinese imports to pressure them into renegotiation but Jinping just does the same thing back and says, "your move". Jinping knows Trump can't go toe to toe with him on this.

The U.S. imports $540 billion in goods from China and China only imports $120 billion from the U.S. THAT is why we have a trade deficit, not because of some "rules" that Trump is going to be able to renegotiate. You can't negotiate your way out of a $419 billion trade deficit. The only thing that can change a deficit that massive is if American people stop buying Chinese stuff and that isn't happening either.

The tariffs are supposed to discourage Americans from buying Chinese but last Black Friday has shown us that it's not working. Americans are just paying MORE for Chinese stuff now.

So now what?

The reason why previous presidents left it up to the market is because they know the government has no business dictating what Americans can buy. Jinping on the other hand, CAN dictate what the Chinese are allowed to buy because it's a communist government! Trump has been trying to dictate what Americans are allowed to buy... he banned Huawei and ZTC products for example, but he's not going to be able to push far enough to make a dent in the trade deficit without seriously violating the American principle of a free market.

So, it's a no win situation. Fortunately, it's not one of our bigger problems either. A better president would focus on more serious problems, but Trump doesn't know how to solve serious problems. All he knows how to do is "make deals".
