I apologize if this has been posted before...but, it's a good'un.

Many of us are between 70 and death, this is a good read and reminder. Enjoy.

1. It's time to use the money you saved up. Use it and enjoy it. Don't just keep it for those who may have no notion of the sacrifices you made to get it. Remember there is nothing more dangerous than a son or daughter-in-law with big ideas for your hard-earned capital. Warning: This is also a bad time for investments, even if it seems wonderful or fool-proof. They only bring problems and worries. This is a time for you to enjoy some peace and quiet.

2. Stop worrying about the financial situation of your children and grandchildren, and don't feel bad spending your money on yourself. You've taken care of them for many years, and you've taught them what you could. You gave them an education, food, shelter and support. The responsibility is now theirs to earn their own money.

3. Keep a healthy life, without great physical effort. Do moderate exercise (like walking every day), eat well and get your sleep. It's easy to become sick, and it gets harder to remain healthy. That is why you need to keep yourself in good shape and be aware of your medical and physical needs. Keep in touch with your doctor, do tests even when you're feeling well. Stay informed.

4. Always buy the best, most beautiful items for your significant other. The key goal is to enjoy your money with your partner. One day one of you will miss the other, and the money will not provide any comfort then, enjoy it together.

5. Don't stress over the little things. You've already overcome so much in your life. You have good memories and bad ones, but the important thing is the present. Don't let the past drag you down and don't let the future frighten you. Feel good in the now. Small issues will soon be forgotten.

6. Regardless of age, always keep love alive. Love your partner, love life, love your family, love your neighbor and remember: "A man is not old as long as he has intelligence and affection."

7. Be proud, both inside and out. Don't stop going to your hair salon or barber, do your nails, go to the dermatologist and the dentist, keep your perfumes and creams well stocked. When you are well-maintained on the outside, it seeps in, making you feel proud and strong.

8. Don't lose sight of fashion trends for your age, but keep your own sense of style. There's nothing worse than an older person trying to wear the current fashion among youngsters. You've developed your own sense of what looks good on you...keep it and be proud of it. It's part of who you are.

9. ALWAYS stay up-to-date. Read newspapers, watch the news. Go online and read what people are saying. Make sure you have an active email account and try to use some of those social networks. You'll be surprised what old friends you'll meet. Keeping in touch with what is going on and with the people you know is important at any age.

10. Respect the younger generation and their opinions. They may not have the same ideals as you, but they are the future, and will take the world in their direction. Give advice, not criticism, and try to remind them that yesterday's wisdom still applies today.

11. Never use the phrase: "In my time." Your time is now. As long as you're alive, you are part of this time. You may have been younger, but you are still you now, having fun and enjoying life.

12. Some people embrace their golden years, while others become bitter and surly. Life is too short to waste your days on the latter. Spend your time with positive, cheerful people, it'll rub off on you and your days will seem that much better. Spending your time with bitter people will make you older and harder to be around.

13. Do not surrender to the temptation of living with your children or grandchildren (if you have a financial choice, that is). Sure, being surrounded by family sounds great, but we all need our privacy. They need theirs and you need yours. If you've lost your partner (our deepest condolences), then find a person to move in with you and help out. Even then, do so only if you feel you really need the help or do not want to live alone.

14. Don't abandon your hobbies. If you don't have any, make new ones. You can travel, hike, cook, read, dance. You can adopt a cat or a dog, grow a garden, play cards, checkers, chess, dominoes, golf. You can paint, volunteer or just collect certain items. Find something you like and spend some real time having fun with it.

15. Even if you don't feel like it, try to accept invitations. Baptisms, graduations, birthdays, weddings, conferences. Try to go. Get out of the house, meet people you haven't seen in a while, experience something new (or something old). But don't get upset when you're not invited. Some events are limited by resources, and not everyone can be hosted. The important thing is to leave the house from time to time. Go to museums, go walk through a field. Get out there.

16. Be a conversationalist. Talk less and listen more. Some people go on and on about the past, not caring if their listeners are really interested. That's a great way of reducing their desire to speak with you. Listen first and answer questions, but don't go off into long stories unless asked to. Speak in courteous tones and try not to complain or criticize too much unless you really need to. Try to accept situations as they are. Everyone is going through the same things, and people have a low tolerance for hearing complaints. Always find some good things to say as well.

17. Pain and discomfort go hand in hand with getting older. Try not to dwell on them but accept them as a part of the cycle of life we're all going through. Try to minimize them in your mind. They are not who you are, they are something that life added to you. If they become your entire focus, you lose sight of the person you used to be.

18. If you've been offended by someone forgive them. If you've offended someone - apologize. Don't drag around resentment with you. It only serves to make you sad and bitter. It doesn't matter who was right. Someone once said: "Holding a grudge is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die." Don't take that poison. Forgive, forget and move on with your life.

19. If you have a strong belief, savor it. But don't waste your time trying to convince others. They will make their own choices no matter what you tell them, and it will only bring you frustration. Live your faith and set an example. Live true to your beliefs and let that memory sway them.

20. Laugh. Laugh A LOT. Laugh at everything. Remember, you are one of the lucky ones. You managed to have a life, a long one. Many never get to this age, never get to experience a full life. But you did. So what's not to laugh about? Find the humor in your situation.

21. Take no notice of what others say about you and even less notice of what they might be thinking. They'll do it anyway, and you should have pride in yourself and what you've achieved. Let them talk and don't worry. They have no idea about your history, your memories and the life you've lived so far. There's still much to be written, so get busy writing and don't waste time thinking about what others might think. Now is the time to be at rest, at peace and as happy as you can be!
I apologize if this has been posted before...but, ... (show quote)

Blacks aren't the only one living on the gov. dime. The blacks only make up about 13 % of our population yet, according to Romney there are maybe 47% on some kind of gov. dole. I would like to hear a statistic of how many drug addicts are on some kind of gov. welfare.
To say nothing about the many single mothers that keep having kids so they can receive more help so the worthless fathers of these kids can have money to lay around and do nothing. The gov. ought to help with the first one because everyone can make a mistake. If there is another one the gov., instead of increasing the help they should reduce the help. Stop encouraging them to have more.

I need to start this topic with a few definitions. I want reasonable responses yes I am going to use certain examples don't get mad just an explanation based on you 're ideology.

Our Founding father put together this government based on a democracy. So a democracy is a form of government in which all citizens take part. It's a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

Our founding fathers understood that a total socialistic form of government was not good. There is actually 6 different types of socialism and at times OPP bloggers use some far fetched meaning to call democrats Marxist or communist and that is just not true. So as Democrats believe that our form of socialism is where all people put our resources together and work for the common good of us all and not for our own benefit. We are sharing the wealth within Society. Not robbing the rich to give to the poor the favorite right wing talking point. Under democratic agenda we feel all people should pay there fair share in order to create a democracy.

Now let's look at capitalism which Republicans advocate and believe me they are not wrong but 100% capitalism is just as bad as 100% socialism. Capitalism an economic system in which means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned there operations are funded by profits and not controlled by the state. Great all good but not 100%.

So I will use the devastation to attempt to show how Democratic Socialism programs and Republican socialism programs interact with capitalism. And it works.

So the hurricanes hit Texas we had a state government and a federal government built on dem/Rep socialism. We were able to mobilize national guard, we were able to mobilize our military this is funded by the tax payer so it's a form of socialism it's using our resources funded by the tax payers both personal and corporate. Because we don't manufactured these vehicles and equipment needed we use socialism to buy from capitalism. So that means American tax payer transferring our resources to the capitalist for profit corporations that create private sector jobs, support the wealthy highly educated wage earners in order to invest in new businesses through our stock markets. It's a revolving chain of cash that started with private investors a government collecting taxes investing in infrastructure, innovation, creating an educational system through socialism to supply the educated people to work for the capitalist.

Next over 30,000 people displaced funds needed to feed and cloth these people all funded by the tax payers of this country which is socialism. These people will be displaced for months or years. These people worked for businesses that are now destroyed long term unemployment benefits will be needed, our food stamp program will explode again, our Medicaid program will be needed. Home low interest loans will be needed to rebuild all funds created thru socialism it's all tax payer funded that's Rep/Dem socialism it's not Hitler socialism or Mussolini socialism bordering on Marxism which republicans constantly use as a talking point.

I could list all the specific agencies but you can just imagine which agencies.

So without socialism what corporation in this country could even come close to mobilizing what is needed in a very small area of this country that got effected nor would they care.

Every thing going on in Texas right now is 100% funded by republican and democratic socialism. There is no form of any capitalism at this point. All socialism.

Now capitalism will now kick in when the rebuilding process begins capitalism will manufactured all the materials needed and private contractors will build. Creates jobs create profits for the capitalist and more investment into this country.
So to create a democracy how do we accomplish this without both. I am sure if all bloggers democrats and republicans can give great examples of how socialism and capitalism working together to create a democracy.

So how did republicans form this perception that all socialism is a bad thing. I have not read one post by a democrat that thinks capitalism is a bad thing. So how did we get divided. It's lies, misinformation all for political gain.

It's actions and comments by legislators that create a divided country and I don't believe this country has ever been more divided since the civil war. But left and right both blame each other that's why this disaster in Texas is a good example.
Now the lies, misinformation, hypocrites are all there and it's just a matter of looking. We have two Senators from Texas and I believe it's 36 representatives from Texas which is a good example only due in part because of numbers and a disaster to compare. I am using Texas and this hurricane only as an example because of this unfortunate event.

Now during the super storm Sandy that hit NJ both Senators from Texas and 20 out of the 36 legislators voted no to disaster relief. (WHY) in time of need that's when this nation shows there compassion and we rise above politics but not Texas. Oklahoma republicans voted no also. But this is where the line should be drawn I want all Texas bloggers to put the shoe on the other foot and tell this country why we should vote yes to disaster relief for you. It's socialism which you hate, its hypicracy which you have shown with you're vote, you're fat disgusting freak of a president is telling the nation its good this happened in Texas because you can handle it. Could you handle or any other state handle it it without socialist money, could you or any state handle it without the national guard and the military, could you get by without food stamps, unemployment compensation, Medicaid which will kick in will you're governor refuse Medicaid now.

Let's use Texas again only because of the magnitude of disasters on a yearly basis. The Texans hated Obama and I mean hate. But what you're government did not tell you is Obama on a yearly basis approved disaster relief funds on average for his 8 years of $6.5 billion. But yet you hate Obama. This creates a divided country all states are guilty not just Texas. But if you're legislators lie and denigrate the opposition for political gain hate comes to the surface.
Now you hate Obamas stimulus program with lies and misinformation as to how the funds were spent. But let's use Texas again they were running a budget deficit of about $6.9 billion and they had a balance of about $7.8 billion in there emergency fund. Rick Perry was coming up for re-election and he was going to have to justify using Texas emergency funds to balance his budget. But Obama at the time gave Block grants to every state out of the stimulus package between $4 and $9 billion. These funds were to be used to create Shovel ready jobs Texans love using Shovel ready. But Rick Perry took that grantand balanced his budget and never created a job. Then told Texans that the stimulus drsbeme mtsmoid nothing for Texas. It was explained by Obama but the Texans were having none of tof hat from the Black guy. Believe a black guy over lily white Rick Perry.

But Texas was not the only state to pull off this dirty little trick with stimulus money there were 8 others.

But this just the Kind of BS that divides this country so I need feed back not insults as to examples of Rep/Dem socialism and how to stop dividing this countr
I need to start this topic with a few definitions.... (show quote)

You sound as if all the benevolent that Texas is receiving comes from a socialist gov. Most of the help that they are receiving is coming from individuals, companies, corporations Samaratians purse, Baptist men,Red Cross, City municipalities, counties and churches. See any socialist organization in that list.
Probably the truth be known FEMA probably has not got it's act together yet. Why, the dem and the Repub have sat on their can and never approved the nomination for that department. You want to look at gov not working, look no further than the resistance of the US Senators. Besides, you hate President Trump as much or more than anybody in Texas hated Obama. While I disliked his actions, I prayed for him, his wife and especially his two daughters everyday. So my question to you "have you ever prayed for President Trump".

I need to start this topic with a few definitions.... (show quote)

This country was founded as a republic instead of a democracy. The difference between the two is each individual state has an election and the results gives the winner electoral votes. This is not like a pure democracy where the popular vote of each state would be combined to a national vote total.
Our founding fathers realized that a pure democracy would be bad because those who receive preferential treatment from the gov. would continue to vote for those who would continue to treat them with partiality. This is happening today in our nation. An true example: a daughter (that I know) bought a house, moved her mother into the house and because did not meet income gov guidelines her daughter applied for gov help for rent and received sufficient help from the tax payers, when her and her husband had sufficient means to do it on their own. There are many I have heard on the news but another in our city: A young lady(white) living with a black man has 2 children along with her mother. She has a low paying job of under 20,000 per year. They are receiving over 40,000 per year in gov help. Question is that helping or creating a class on gov dependents. One white women in the state of PA got on TV about a year ago and stated want she was receiving from the state of PA and the fed. Something over 80,000 per year.Of all the years that I worked, my wife and myself never make that much in one year. But you socialist progressives seem to have no problem with taking my tax money and dolling it out to whom will vote for your party.
Some of us out here are neither dem or Repub. you need to get the book " how to take over America without firing a shot" written in about 1931 by the recently retire leader of the "American Communist party". It was revised in the 1960's. In that revision they stated that the name "Communist" was to devises so they chose the name as "Progressive". Read it and be honest, did your boy Obama follow all the suggestion in the book of how to take control of America without firing a shot.
Trump is not the perfect person we need but he was head and shoulders above our other choice if you really love liberty and freedom.
I personally went though hurricane Carla in 1961. The only help that the fed gave us was to be able to claim our losses on our income tax and a free polio shot. The state sent in some policing help
You evidently want a federalist type government but that is not what our founding fathers set up for America and I do not believe that if you received the gov that you desire, that it would please you.
Jesus stated that His father works and that He works. If they work they I believe that all should work. End of story. ( even the old devil works)

Number one "Obama care" it is a socialist, communist social program. It is not supported by our constitution regardless of what the socialist "supreme court" says. He operateed like a dictator on the illegal aliens by presidential order only. You are evidently a social, communist person that thinks that the gov is suppose to control our lives. The 10th amendment state that all thing that the federal was to do are in the constitution. Any thing not in the constitution was for the states to handle. If you have trouble seeing the socialist, communist trend that Obama used you are responsible for your own hurt.
