Yes it is one of the right ways to spell it. It's a last name among some of my extended family members and they spell it Skkye. Live with the fact that you don't know everything and that the same is true of most people.

He won it for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between all people. He was working to promote a global community without nuclear weapons and he continues to work toward that goal. The Nobel prize committee found that goal to have a unique and special importance so they chose to give him the prize in 2009. Pretty impressive for a president some people here have labelled the most corrupt president ever. But then I don't think any of them have ever really studied his presidency. I've taken some time to read about the things he did when he was in office. i think many are quite impressive. I don't feel comfortable with labeling people until I have something to base it on. That doesn't seem to be the case with many here.

In the car the other evening, while waiting for a grandson to exit the local grocery store, we stumbled upon Mark Levin’s radio show where he was going down the list on how government corrupted the elements of liberty that were spelled out in the U. S. Constitution. He focused on government’s perversion of the “Commerce” and “Necessary and Proper” clauses, as delineated in Article 1, Section 8. Of course, these weren’t the only perversions of liberty perpetrated by a government that had been given its head to do just about anything it wanted to do because WE THE PEOPLE turned away from our duty to hold government accountable. Sadly, if the people won’t hold government accountable, they get what they deserve and what they get is slowly evolving slavery.

We will describe a few details on what the people have gotten, at the hands of a rogue, out-of-control and Hell bent on domination of the masses, government. These events taken one at a time in and of themselves do not necessarily cause any alarm. However, taken in their totality should raise the hackles and the fear of even the most naive American. Some of these events are well known. A few however, have received a bored ho hum from the media.

Fishermen found five-year old Elian Gonzales clinging to an inner tube, three miles off the Florida Coast. His mother and several others drowned in the boat crossing from Cuba. Only Elian survived. The fishermen took him to land where he was admitted to a hospital for observation. After release from the hospital he was sent to live with his maternal relatives in Florida who then petitioned for custody and asylum for the little boy. But Elian’s Cuban father wanted him back and made an international plea to get him back. The State Department washed their hands of the issue and said it belonged in state court. But when the relatives went to state court, U. S. Attorney General Janet Reno said that any filings should be in federal court. The relatives filed in federal court where the government demanded the case be dismissed. The federal court judge did the government’s bidding. After an 11th Circuit Court, Appeals Court and U. S. Supreme Court ruled against Elian’s relatives, on April 22, 2000 AG Reno sent in the storm troopers to abduct Elian and unite him with his father. Over 130 Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) were involved in the pre-dawn swat-team like raid that took Elian by force. No matter how the reader may lean on the issue, the government exercised, excessive, overwhelming force to take custody of a little five-year old boy and sent him back to a communist regime.

Many times we have written that any conflict between American citizens and the federal government will not be a fair fight. Citizens have side arms and long guns. The government has highly trained troops, tanks, armored personnel carriers, rocket launchers, Apache helicopters and various other weapons designed to remove life from flesh, blood and bones. Consequently, civil wars and revolutions are doomed to failure from the start. But that disparity does not stop citizens from trying when they believe they have been aggrieved by government actions.

And so it was when federal agents from Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) attempted to serve a search warrant on the Branch Davidian compound near Waco, Texas for alleged firearms violations. Branch Davidian inhabitants resisted the search warrant attempt with small arms fire. There is still a question on which side fired the first shot. Nevertheless, several were killed on either side.

That resistance resulted in a 51-day standoff between the Branch Davidian and heavily armed federal agents until a tear gas assault was launched by federal agents on April 19th, 1993 using almost 100 troops, a tank, helicopters and other methods to gain access to the compound. A fire ensued from the assault and over 70 Branch Davidians died in the blaze. We are not here to defend what the Branch Davidian folks did. We only point out that once again the federal government resorted to overwhelming military style force to subdue American citizens trying to go about their business without interference from government. It was U. S. Attorney General Janet Reno that ordered the final assault.....
Hey Folks, Are You Beginning To See A Pattern? br ... (show quote)

Unfortunately, everything isn't always fair. The boy's closest living relative wanted his child brought back to him and the court agreed. We don't have the luxury of choosing when to obey the law. Unless some clear danger to the child could be proven, there was no reason not to return him.
With the Branch Davidians, mistakes were made. Janet Reno admitted that. The situation got out of hand and orders were misinterpreted.
I'm not trying to justify how everything was done in either case, but if you're expecting everything to go perfectly every time, you're not being realistic. Nothing in either case was black or white, but the goal was to make the best choices possible at the time with the information available. No one can expect more than that.

Even if everything all of you said her was true, at least she understands how government works and that's something Trump will never understand. I'm sorry, but he doesn't have the smallest grasp of how things work. ANYONE, with even a third grade education, understands our system of government and our place in the world better than Trump ever will. Right now, I'd rather see almost anyone else in the center seat.

Unfortunately, this filing is not likely to get him out of the office. The Republicans are too invested in party over country. With everything else that's coming out now we may hope for the best: that when the dust settles and the special prosecutor has everything checked, impeachment may follow.

I'm continually amazed at the sheer seething hatred people have for Trump. One can't even point to racism as a cause. It's just pure seething, irrational hatred. That being said, in our world of "free press" and our first amendment rights, I would truely enjoy someone taking down Colbert for going just a bit, or rather way, too far with his latest tie raid.

"Mr. President, you're not the POTUS, you're the 'gloat-us.' You're the glutton with the button. You're a regular 'Gorge Washington.' You're the 'presi-dunce,' but you're turning into a real 'prick-tator," Colbert said.'

He continued:

"Sir, you attract more skinheads than free Rogaine. You have more people marching against you than cancer. You talk like a sign-language gorilla that got hit in the head. In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's c--k holster."

I'm not ordinarily offended and indeed, this doesn't actually offend as much as it angers. This is the new low our entertainment industry has reached and I find it shameful. Of course with elected officials, we can vote them out and with entertainers we can change the channel. But with so much media available, their message still gets out and is, essentially, unavoidable. I hear the BLM leader calling for some videos to be "taken down." In other words, she's asking for censorship, yet claims to be supportive of the first amendment. Right.

I guess what I'm saying, it that rather than "taking down" Colbert's platform, I'd rather see someone take HIM down. Other's across the globe will equate his level of crass verbiage as being the norm in the USA, and indeed, it's nearing that. But really, is this really where we as a nation are at, the open verbal abuse of a president, no matter how poor of a person he might be????

Oh, I know people who like to listen to guys like Colbert and that outsider, Trevor Noah, who thinks he needs to come over here and rescue fellow blacks from white privilege. Many have been life long friends. I'll not limit their freedom to tune in, but I'll wish and hope for something very nasty to happen to those like Colbert, for all the good it'll do, to hope and wish. LOL! Ok, I won't let it fill my heart, to hope for that, but if it actually happened, I'd not lose any sleep over it, I can guarantee it!
I'm continually amazed at the sheer seething hatre... (show quote)

I don't watch much TV, but I hear the stories from my husband. The thing that hurts the most is that we have a president who epitomizes every loathsome characteristic a human can lay claim to. He continually sets himself up as an irresistible target for these remarks and he is totally oblivious to that fact. I feel that the damage he is doing to our country's image and standing in the world may take decades to repair. Instead of slamming the entertainment industry, maybe we should blame the one arousing such scorn.

Congressman Says Administration Is ‘Anxious to Get Started’ With Mass Deportation of Immigrants

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) met with Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly on Wednesday to discuss immigration. After the meeting, CHC member Rep. Luis Gutiérrez, D-Ill., warned immigrants with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) or TPS (Temporary Protected Status) to “prepare for the worst,” the website Latino Rebels reports.

“They actually want to take millions of people who are documented—with our own government—make them undocumented, and then go after them and their families,” Gutiérrez said in a statement. “So, I fear for anybody currently with DACA or TPS. This was a wake-up call that [Donald] Trump, [Jeff] Sessions and Kelly are serious about mass deportation and are anxious to get started.”

The Obama administration started DACA in 2012 to protect immigrants brought to the United States as children. The program currently has over 800,000 recipients, or Dreamers. They are now at risk of being deported after being in a state of limbo since Donald Trump took office as president.

Republican officials in 10 states have threatened to sue Trump if he doesn’t rescind DACA by Sept. 5.

According to the Migration Policy Institute, the U.S. started TPS in 1990 as a form of temporary humanitarian relief and now provides that relief to over 300,000 people from 10 countries: El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The Homeland Security Department secretary may designate a foreign country for TPS status if conditions in the country (armed conflict, natural disasters or “extraordinary” circumstances) prevent people from returning safely to their homeland. TPS beneficiaries are safe from deportation and allowed to work in the U.S. until their TPS designation ends.

Life could change soon for TPS immigrants in the same way it would for DACA dreamers.

READ: Immigration Is Fueling Innovation in Silicon Valley

“I have never left a meeting so emotionally affected than from what I just heard inside,” Gutiérrez told McLatchy DC after the sitdown with Kelly. “And I’m positive that my colleagues heard the same thing that I heard.”

Read Gutiérrez’s complete statement below:

I think we have to prepare for the worst and get ready to fight mass deportation. We showed up at airports to fight the Muslim and Refugee Ban and now DREAMers and people who have lived here legally for decades with TPS are in imminent danger.

Secretary Kelly determines the future of TPS and basically told us he is not sure if he will extend it for hundreds of thousands of people. He also said that the future of DACA is up to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, America’s leading advocate against immigration, so Kelly was basically telling us DACA is facing a death sentence. They actually want to take millions of people who are documented – with our own government – make them undocumented, and then go after them and their families.

So, I fear for anybody currently with DACA or TPS.

This was a wake-up call that Trump, Sessions and Kelly are serious about mass deportation and are anxious to get started. It is a call to action for people who oppose mass deportation and turning the documented into undocumented so that they can be deported.

Upon questioning, Sec. Kelly made it clear he does not understand how his agency works or how the Congress works. He stood by his past remarks that Congress should change the law if we don’t like it, as if Democrats have not been fighting Republican obstruction for years, and asking for a vote on immigration reform, the DREAM Act and other legislation. Sec. Kelly says it is up to Congress, but his party is the obstacle standing in the way of a modern immigration system.

Sec. Kelly said he could not help people and their American citizen children who have no criminal record and are being deported, as if he doesn’t understand that he has the power under current law to spare people through his prosecutorial discretion. I told him straight up that he could prevent the August deportation of Francisca Lino – the wife of a U.S. citizen and mother of U.S. citizen children in Chicago – just by picking up the phone and he seemed not to know he has that power.

He either does not understand his authority under current law or was stonewalling or doing a very convincing job of playing dumb – or maybe some combination of the three. He is playing along with Trump’s agenda to deport millions and pretending to not understand his powers to do something about it. ‘Just following orders’ is not a valid defense, especially when you have the power to prevent a tragedy for millions of American citizens and their families.

Trump, Sessions and Kelly want to take 800,000 DREAMers with DACA and hundreds of thousands with TPS who are registered with the government and in compliance with the law and make them into criminals, felons, and deportees in the next few months. Anyone with a conscience who thinks legal immigration is an integral part of who we are as a country just got called to action.

It's not surprising that Trump's people are going after these two groups. They have all the paperwork they need to find them and that makes these people easy targets for deportation. They can ship out large numbers of people and make it look like they're digging in on removing foreign criminals and making us safe.

I agree. I'm getting tired of being labelled based on very slim information. Reading endless comments that say more for raiding the dictionary to obtain every possible adjective, however redundant, to try to make a point has become a bore. And, yes, I know that last sentence goes to the same dead end, but I couldn't resist! However, opinions on Trump have turned people like me, who weren't very involved in politics before into activists. Still the rudeness needs to end. P.S. The is a very long comment from me.

We all have strong opinions about things, however, that should not mean crushing Freedom of Speech. I feel our discourse has been railroaded by operatives on the Right. No doubt the Right feels the opposite. A challenge, then: give as many Troll examples as possible of the opposite leaning group. Prove through weight of evidence that you are the aggrieved party. But we need to define Troll. It is not someone with an opposing view given with respect and providing sources, no matter how upsetting that may be to some. Essentially, a Troll only detracts from the narrative, not staying on topic and using insult and name-calling as their featured comments. Any racists comments automatically qualify a person as a Troll. Any generalization of either party as whatever is Troll-like. I am not attempting to ban such comments, this is an open forum, I am simply looking for a way we may move the conversation forward and actually deal with issues that will effect our children and our nation in the future.

Yes, the originator of the story line here can write, but it isn't necessary to pillage the dictionary for adjectives to make a point. Your assumption that I am a "lefty," as you refer to it, is wrong, but that is what happens when you make assumptions based on little to no information.
