One can discipline without beating. What you are giving is an excuse. My guess is parents fail to discipline either because they are exhausted because they are over-worked or because they are too busy seeking their own pleasure, and the threat of incarceration has nothing to do with it.

I LISTEN to my brother. After YEARS of listening to him, I finally emailed him to point out that he is ALWAYS trying to get me to change my mind about Trump and I have never done more than allow him to express his views. Most definitely, I did NOT go on for a half-an-hour or more about how right Trump was and how wrong those who disagree with Trump are. I wish my brother would just get off his kick of haranguing me about Trump.
