Seems there’s a “vast” Muslim population at the New York City school, and since its prom — scheduled for this Saturday — falls during Ramadan, the petition signers wanted the date altered so all Muslim students could attend.
Ramadan — the annual Muslim holy month — calls for fasting between sunrise and sunset, along with other restrictions.
Some Muslim students told WCBS they believe their holidays are overlooked.
“Muslim holidays they don’t give much attention to it, school events, they don’t care about it,” Saima Afrin told the station.

The Liberal Media Had Fun Bashing The Military On Memorial Day
Our prayers of thanks, for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us on this Memorial Day, the liberal media obviously didn't take a day off. No, they took the opportunity to smash one of our extremely well-respected (and feared) branches of the military.
Vox's attempt at at scathing hit piece on the United States Marines cites what theyâre calling "toxic masculinity" as being the problem with our armed forces today.
Via Allen B. West:
The leftist ingrates at Vox published an article that criticized the United States Marine Corps on Memorial Day, accusing the Corps of having a âtoxic masculinityâ problem. The article, written by Alex Ward, attempts to create the narrative that the Marines need to change their attitude and their image following the deplorable nude photo-sharing scandal.
Ward argues tha in order to fix its image as a hive of toxic masculinity, the Marines should do more to incorporate women into combat roles. Never mind that studies have shown that women are not as qualified as men to undertake the physical burdens necessary to join the Marines. According to Ward, this change is necessary to change the image of the Marines and other military branches.
Our military might have some problems, but I don't think an overgrowth of masculinity is one of them. I've seen toxic masculinity, and it doesnât look like the boy next door in fatigues, shouting ooh rah. Toxic masculinity looks like the guy who is too concerned about preserving his appearance to sacrifice for anyone else. Toxic masculinity is a gang of thugs who rape the women who they consider to be less valuable than dogs. Toxic masculinity is the opposite of what the Marines believe in, Semper Fidelis; always faithful.
If I had to guess, I would guess that whoever wrote that piece didn't know much about masculinity or the Marines. But thatâs ok, the Marines will keep on protecting them anyway because thatâs their job, to sacrifice for everyone, even the ones who run them down. And thereâs nothing toxic about that.

It's not the first time Tiger Woods has made headlines for dubious reasons over a holiday: The golfer was arrested on suspicion of DUI around 3am Monday in Jupiter, Florida, reports WPTV, which notes that's where Woods resides.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office records indicate the 41-year-old was booked shortly after 7am and released at 10:50am under his own recognizance.

Not My Day a poem by a Veteran
It’s common on Memorial Day to be thanked for our service. While very much appreciated most of us redirect those sentiments towards the men and women who truly earned them in the hardest of ways. This year I thought I’d pen some lines to better explain Memorial Day as seen through the eyes of a veteran.
NOT MY DAY
It’s not my day to celebrate nor to be given thanks,
just for raising my right hand and standing in the ranks.
I came home with eyes that see and breath within my lungs,
to live a life that’s worthy of the battles lost and won.
This day is for the brothers who fell beside me as they fought,
and those who didn’t know us but our safety their lives bought.
This day is for our nation to rejoice in being whole,
to gather near with loved ones and consider freedom’s toll.
It’s not my day to celebrate nor to have shaken hand,
it’s my day to humbly honor those who gave all for this land.
