President Coolidge best stated the conservative philosophy of government: “The chief business of the American people is business.” Wrong! Our chief business is exactly as stated in the preamble to our Constitution: “to... promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessing of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity”

For a Liberal, “Liberty” means minimal regulation of personal life and adequate regulation of business: Democracy. For a Conservative, “Liberty” means minimal regulation of business and maximal regulation of personal life: Fascism. We do not live in a pure democracy, (50%+1), we live in a democratic republic which protects the rights of the minority. I believe you are wrong when you try to describe conservatism as being the same as fascism. I would say the today's left is inclusive to the point of wanting to micro manage and control every aspect of ones life, this leads to an elite plutocracy dictatorship. I would further say the right is exclusive in that it dislikes change. I would further say the right is exclusive to the point of chaos in many ways, with everyone wanting to go their own way. This in turn leads to an elite plutocracy dictatorship while different from the left the results on the are eerily the same, loss of freedom and liberty. That's how I see it.

Yes, there was a time when “Welfare” was a good idea and when “Posterity” was the most important concern. The Founding Liberals understood that a nation without a thriving young generation faces its doom. Care of the young is the highest priority of every animal on Earth- except the Conservative! Mother Nature is a Liberal!

The Conservative’s belief that Liberals want equality of wealth is a self-induced hallucination. Conservatives want to provide equality of opportunity for all children, regardless of parentage, but do not believe government largesse is the answer. To thrive, all children must get all the health care, food, shelter, and play they need and as much free education as they can absorb, from prenatal through university. It is the responsibility of the parents to see that their children are provided with the needs you suggest, not the government.

A level playing field and equal opportunity from the moment of conception are the liberal’s core beliefs. Who are you bull shitting, yourself? When 99% of all scientific discoveries are made by 1% of all scientists, providing excellent care and education only for children of the rich will not produce enough brilliant leaders in technology, industry, and government. If you want all the cream, you have to milk all the cows. Where did those numbers come from? If you want what you say, break the strangle hold leftist liberalism has on the school systems through out the nation. Then get the Marxist/democrat leftist liberals out of government and its functions. It's obvious that after 50-60 years of making our larger cities third world countries and bankrupting their states, Marxist/democrats have failed their constituency miserably.

Because support for children by local taxes inevitably result in deprived areas, federal spending must finance all care of the young. Now there's an idea whose time has come, how's that working out for leftist liberal Marxist/democrats presently? Not so good huh? Looks more like a Communist utopia at work to me, read the following:

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs. [1]

The first part of the principle—from each according to their ability—means that all members of society will have the right and the actual opportunity to develop their talents and abilities to the utmost and to use their talents to produce goods and services for the benefit of society. In other words, everyone will have an education that allows them to realize their highest potential and a job in which they will have the opportunity to give their best efforts back to society. There will be no uneducated or poorly educated people, no unemployment, and no one will be forced by economic necessity to work in fields unsuited to their abilities. The second part of the principle—to each according to their needs—explains what citizens will receive from society in return for their labor, and that will be nothing less than complete satisfaction of their material and cultural needs.

http://politicalaffairs.net/you-might-be-a-marxist-if-you-believe-in-from-each-according-to-their-abilities-to-each-according-to-their-needs/

Non-discretionary income should never be taxed and discretionary income should be taxed progressively because the rich spend progressively more than others. More of the same Marxist bull shit.

Conservatives hold the opposite view. They believe children should be rewarded or punished depending on how well or how poorly they choose their parents. Another leftist liberal Marxist bull shit line, and no one gets to choose their parents good or bad. They want the care of the young to be the responsibility of the parents and they would prefer schools financed by local taxes and controlled by local school boards. so that quality of education is doled out according to class and so that fundamentalist school boards can teach creationism. Another leftist liberal Marxist bull shit line if I ever saw one!

Instead of taxing wealthy estates, consisting mostly of never-taxed capital gains and municipal bond interest, they would endow the least productive segment of society: children of the rich. Since Congress can be bought, wealth is power and inherited wealth is inherited power – aristocracy, the survival and triumph of the incompetent - the exact opposite of democracy, the exact opposite of meritocracy. This is dishonesty and corruption. Conservatism is a crime against Nature! Speaking of crimes against nature, I see leftist liberal progressive Marxist/democrats supporting queer marriage and a perversion now of men trying to be women and women trying to be men, even though that is impossible. Some how I see this as of late being a leftist liberal progressive Marxist/democrat trait. To further argue your point, I don't see rich democrats sending their children to inner city schools, their children go to the best elite private schools with armed guards protecting them. I will concede that rich Rino Republicans do the same for their children too.

Conservatives believe the tax burden should be shifted from the rich to the middle class, from capital to labor. They would create a polarized generation: a small aristocracy and a large underclass - a lost generation. This is a complete betrayal of the Founding Liberals.

What you gives you the right to take wealth away from those who earn it? What you describe is a Communist utopia which is an elitist plutocracy were the proletariat shares a life of misery with each other forced to support the ruling plutocracy's luxurious lifestyle. You are the one betraying the "Founding Liberals", their Constitutional republic and its constituents. Remember useful idiots like yourself are among the first to disappear in the reeducation (FEMA) camps. I understand China has supplied us with guillotines to speed up the education of fools like you.

This not exactly on topic, but some of the leftist who will respond here remind me of the type in the picture. Whining cry babies. I have been notified that several of them have been crying to the Admin. when the conservatives here hurt their feeling. I just thought I would pass that on. I just hate those who can pass it out but can't take it. I say lay it on these whiners twice as hard, make them cry.

It seems the DEA thinks it needs to see what we are looking at under the pretense of investigating drug dealing at Hot Air. We need to face it, our government has turned against us and it's just a matter of time before that becomes overt.

I used to have a nasty message as a header on my emails for all of our spy agencies, it may be time to do that again. I suggest if you do so make it real nasty and do it in more that a couple languages so they have to interpret it. Don't worry about them coming after you, they'll be coming before long anyway no matter what.

As I recall both Marx and Engels believed in violent revolution to achieve their desired results which was a Marxist utopia which I mentioned has never come to to be. Communist dictatorship is as close as the utopia has come thus far.

In one respect, yes.... At both extremes there is despotism. But to sum that up as being the only defining characteristic is very short sighted... I don't believe I stated that despotism was the only defining characteristic between the two polar opposites. The ideologies and how they approached government also were vastly different. No different than saying Christians and Muslims are flip sides of the same religious coin. I would say one is a cult and the other is a religion, I let you decide which, so maybe there is no coin here to have a flip side. By focusing on a single characteristic, one can even make the argument that Capitalism and Socialism are essentially the same thing, because they are both economic systems that dictate the distribution of wealth. I believe the only thing in common between the two is the fact they both have economic systems, though they are different.[/b]But as you might argue there are also vast differences between these religions and economic systems, so too are there vast differences between the left and the right.

If I had to choose one defining characteristic that underlines the differences, I would say it's the inclusive nature of left-wing politics and the exclusive nature of right-wing politics. I can't think of any conflict between these two political hemispheres that can't be described in this manner. For instance, Immigration: left = "include the immigrants", right="exclude the immigrants" or to tie in with what Sutton was mentioning in his book, the "internationalists" on the inclusive left and the "nationalists" on the exclusive right.I would say the left is inclusive to the point of wanting to micro manage and control every aspect of ones life, this leads to an elite plutocracy dictatorship. I would further say the right is exclusive in that it dislikes change. I would further say the right is exclusive to the point of chaos in many ways, with everyone wanting to go their own way. Of course this flies in the face of Golberg's claim that Hitler was a leftist. History makes no secret of his hatred toward communism and the reasons are also very clear (if you ever actually read what Hitler said about it). He blamed the communists for Germany's defeat in WW1 because the international nature of the communist revolution in Russia was pulling sentiment and support from German communists. The fact that the communist movement was so strongly supported by the Jewish population added to his hatred toward a people who were already "internationalists" in the sense that their "community" spanned national borders. Hitler's sentiment was pretty damned exclusive to the point of executing those who are excluded while pushing for an exclusive "German" race. You can't GET any more right wing that that.

There's not much to talk about on the left side, because the left is trying to accomplish something that just isn't natural... the one-size-fits-all democratic solution. Every left-wing revolution was an attempt to create a single democratic solution that helps everyone, but because of human nature, almost every attempt to do this was met with failure and in many cases a one-size-fits-all solution that is anything but democratic. Democracies always fail because 50%+1 rules, because we are a democratic republic and protect the rights of the minority we have lasted this long, but our time is coming to an end.

Out of failures like this you get people like Ayn Rand talking about the virtues of selfishness and the failures of altruism.

For years I've been arguing against the popular notion that the Soviet and Sino regimes are examples of left-wing systems, pointing out the vast difference between these tyrannical systems and the vision of the revolutionaries. If you really want a solid argument against the left, I would suggest that instead of erroneously qualifying the systems that effectively replaced the vision as the vision itself, focus on the the track record of failures to even establish the vision. Their system is to sell the populace on the benefits of socialism acquired by violent revolution which is then turned into an elitist plutrocracy communist dictatorship and never makes it to the Marxist utopia promised. the Marxist dream has never been achieved that I know of.

Ultimately, human history is a vicious procession of conflicts that has always been dominated by the right while the left can be seen in short glimmers of lofty declarations of inalienable rights and other inclusive nonsense. I don't think I agree with your points in this paragraph. I can't even say you have them backwards, I just think you're wrong, but I just don't know why.

So, there IS a difference, even though at both ends you will find despotic results which usually indicates a failure of the revolution not it's success. I kind of agree with you here.
