You quite underestimate the extent of the Koch Darth Vader part in politics. I love the metaphor, by the way...fits perfectly. I suppose the real point is that the original posted source misrepresents the overall Koch political funding situation. They are the largest political donors of all times.

Regarding WalMart, current controversy in Green Bay is location of a WalMart in redevelopment of GB downtown opposed by mayor (nonpartisan but known GOP) and the specialty shops that have located in the former downtown. Local GOP state rep (who has received Walton campaign monies) just this week called for state withdrawal of state money for downtown renewal if WalMart location isn't approved (shades of Gov. Christie). I have mixed feelings. Understandably the proposed site would detract from what the new "downtown" could be and that is the basis of almost unanimous opposition by the mayor and councilmen, and there are other nearby locations that would be more appropriate for WalMart and downtown. On the other hand, I like WalMart as the part-time employer of handicapped persons...a win-win situation giving a meaningful work life to many who otherwise would not have it by circumstance and giving WalMart cheap labor costs. I know WalMart is viewed as villainous in wages and work benefits but that is balanced by an almost "Salvation Army" service to many of those who otherwise would not just be unemployed but also (and that is the real measure of benefit) otherwise unemployable.

I recall when I was a child growing up in the Knoxville area, there was a local "big lot" grocery chain owned by Cas Walker (who gave Dolly Parton her local start in show biz) which was somewhat as controversial as our later day WalMarts and "notorious" for employing ex-cons. Again a service for the individuals and for society.

So I give somewhat a pass to the Waltons and WalMarts in the political Star Wars, but can see no redeeming pass for the Kochs.

You make it sound like the Demo's don't have any big donors ;-)

Union people really think they own those businesses they work for. Well now, the UAW does in fact own a large part of the auto businesses, since Obama and his first act against the auto makers.

They don't own VW yet and if VW pays good and treats the workers good they will never be union own !

Who does the most good for the country I would say the unions they represent the working people of the country as a whole did more good by offering education and a way people could achieve an active part in the growth of our great nation.
On the other had the republicans are supported by oil companies, banks, auto companies, large corporations. All of whom have tax loopholes and bank overseas. These are the same people that left unregulated brought the country to the last recession. This group of people are irresponsible yet they lead the Republican party

Interesting point of view!

So without the oil companies, banks, auto companies, large corporations etc etc where would the Unions be ?

So the Unions who represent millions of individual members voluntarily pooling their small donations to the unions political funds, money spent openly and publicly to support candidates who help working familys are the same in your mind as three billionairs secretly spending millions influencing elections in places they don't even live?

Beg to differ with you I know many union members hate to see the Unions spend their membership dues on things they wouldn't donate to on their own !

It's crock that they pay these dues voluntarily !

A northerner was visiting a Texas Ranch so the rancher took him out to a corner post and bragged it takes me all day in my pickup to get to my south east corner post then another day to drive to my south west corner post then another day to drive to my north west corner then another day to get back here !

So what do you think of that asked the rancher ?

Yea I had a truck like that once

Of course not. We should have accountability for all our spending, be it extended benefits for the unemployed, corporate welfare or DoD appropriations.. Most of us (on the forum) agree the Govt spending has gone overboard, where we differ is which cuts to make for the best results for the nation...

Problem is no one wants to take their cut !

As a farmer I'm willing to do away with farm subsidies which was never good for farmers .

So would you be willing to have your food prices skyrocket if farm subsidies were stopped ?

The video tells it like it is with the government today !

SO I take it your all for throwing all caution to the wind with tax and spend then borrow then tax and spend then borrow !

Absolutely no accountability just ride the train till it crashes !
