Proud, when McCarthy was elected speaker in January he promised to cut federal spending back to pre-COVID levels, to avoid at all costs resorting to continuing resolutions (CRs) or omnibus spending bills, and instead return the House to "regular order." He did the exact opposite.

House Republicans were slow to move the 12 major appropriations bills, and when the traditional August recess approached, Mr. McCarthy was pressured by many of his most conservative colleagues to keep the House in session to work on the spending measures rather than allowing members to return to their home districts. But Mr. McCarthy declined to cancel the recess.

When the GOP took control of the House in 2011, the annual budget deficit was $1.3 trillion, or 8.3% of GDP. In 2021 the annual budget deficit was $2.7 trillion, and had grown to 12.1% of GDP. During that decade the total national debt grew from $14.7 trillion, or 95% of GDP, in 2011, to $29.62 trillion, or 124% of GDP, in 2021.

The only power that Republicans have at the moment is the power of the purse. Both McCarthy and Mike Johnson have failed to use that power because they were afraid of being portrayed by the media as obstructionists if they shut down NON-ESSENTIAL elements of the government to get border security. Both are weak feckless leaders.

Mike Johnson has had numerous letdowns as speaker of the House:
* The Southern border remains wide open.
* Legislation to reform FISA Section 702 and stop the FBI’s warrantless spying on innocent Americans was blocked by Johnson.
* Johnson announced a $1.590 trillion budget for fiscal year 2024, which funds foreign wars but leaves America’s borders wideo open and was applauded by Democrat Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
* House Speaker Mike Johnson has endorsed Ohio District Nine Congressional Candidate State Rep. Derek Merrin, running against JR Majewski, (Trump supported candidate)
* In November 2023, after Congress passed a two-step CR with Jan. 19 and Feb. 2 appropriations deadlines, speaker Johnson stated, “I’m done with short term CRs”. On January 19,j the GOP-led House passed a continuing resolution (CR) to extend current federal funding levels to avoid a government shutdown, despite House Speaker Johnson having previously vowed not to pursue any more temporary spending bills.

You say that McCarthy was good at fund raising. Party officials said the same thing about Rona Romney McDaniel while ignoring her financial mismanagment. It is more important on HOW you spend money rather than HOW MUCH you spend. Republican donors (other than the corporate CEO's, Defense Contractors, etc) stopped funding the RNC because Rona supported RINO candidates and ignored MAGA candidates. Same with McCarthy.

The only real House REPUBLICANS in my opinion are those in the House Freedom Caucus. What the party really needs is to get rid of the RINO's and elect representatives that care more about America's border than they do about funding the oligarchs and proxy war in Ukraine, or aid to Israel.

Here is a list of the 10 Republicans who took a stance against Trump:
Rep. John Katko, R-N.Y.
"To allow the President of the United States to incite this attack without consequence is a direct threat to the future of our democracy. For that reason, I cannot sit by without taking action. I will vote to impeach this president."

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill.
"It's not going to be some 'Kumbaya moment' on the floor -- it's going to be an awakening by the American people to hold their leaders accountable to their rhetoric,"

Rep. Jamie Herrera Beutler, R-Wash.
"The president's offenses, in my reading of the Constitution, were impeachable based on the indisputable evidence we already have. I understand the argument that the best course is not to further inflame the country or alienate Republican voters. But I am a Republican voter. I believe in our Constitution, individual liberty, free markets, charity, life, justice, peace and this exceptional country. I see that my own party will be best served when those among us choose truth. I believe President Trump acted against his oath of office, so I will vote to impeach him."

Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Wash.
"Turning a blind eye to this brutal assault on our Republic is not an option."

Rep. David Valadao, R-Calif.
"President Trump was, without question, a driving force in the catastrophic events that took place on Jan. 6 by encouraging masses of rioters to incite violence on elected officials, staff members, and our representative democracy as a whole."

Rep. Peter Meijer, R-Mich.
Meijer, the freshman congressman who won former Rep. Justin Amash's seat, voted to impeach Trump Wednesday.
"President Trump betrayed his oath of office by seeking to undermine our constitutional process, and he bears responsibility for inciting the insurrection we suffered last week," he tweeted before the vote Wednesday.

— Rep. Peter Meijer (@RepMeijer) January 13, 2021

Rep. Tom Rice, R-S.C.
Rice said in a statement, "I have backed this President through thick and thin for four years. I campaigned for him and voted for him twice. But, this utter failure is inexcusable." Rice was one of the 139 House Republicans who voted to sustain an objection to certifying the election results. Rice angrily tweeted, "Where is the President!?" during the rioting at the Capitol last week.

Fred Upton, R-Mich.
Upton tweeted that Congress must hold the president "to account," before he voted for impeachment. "Congress must hold President Trump to account and send a clear message that our country cannot and will not tolerate any effort by any president to impede the peaceful transfer of power from one president to the next," he said.

Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, R-Ohio
Gonzalez, who represents northeast Ohio, said Trump "helped organize and incite a mob that attacked the United States Congress" in a statement he released on Twitter.

Liz Cheney, R-Wyo.
Cheney, the House Republican conference chair, announced that she would be voting to impeach Trump Tuesday night.

Well you're living in a dictatorship right now. What do you think ignoring our laws to flood the country with invaders is, let alone forgiving student debt at the expense of American tax payers who never even got to go to college and after being told by POTUS not to. The longer I'm on this site, the more leftist ignorance I see.

I must say respectfully that I am in complete disagreement here. Nearly all your suppositions are incorrect. “Murder”?
You have only watched the carefully edited videos of that tragic event. They were doctored to foster an agenda as was the Floyd autopsy. Tragedy to be sure, then the day after Floyd’s death, there were professional protestors in Mpls from all over the country to make sure the tragedy reached mamoth proportions. There is so much incorrect information in this post it would take volumes to address.
