What did you not understand about what I said? It was quite clear.
I knew when I picked my field that my satisfaction would not come from money earned.
My joy in the job came from the good I did for and with others.
I was happy, I am now retired from my career and thanks to planning well I am able to continue to do what I like to keep busy and bring in a few dollars.
Money and BIG bucks are not motivating for me.
Well good for you, but you need to accept the fact that not everyone is like you.

Wages are private business agreements between employees and employers.

Government has no lawful, constitutional authority to meddle in those private business agreements.

If I make five dollars an hour picking fruit and you make three doing the exact same job , why is your labor worth less ? If there are 100 jobs and 200 workers , could you pretty much pay a lower wage , though you could make a profit paying a much higher wage, even if it were not enough to live on ? When your workers still have to pay taxes, that you as an employer benefit from , is that socially responsible ? Should you not do it because the "S" word is involved ? Could you basically then enslave anyone who makes less money than you ?

An employer will pay what he can afford and what he knows people will be willing to accept. It's called the free market and it usually works.

When will corporate America have enough slaves?
Maybe when they get enough job openings to keep everyone employed, if that's what you want to call being a slave.

First thing you've said so far that made sense. This is what's wrong with unions, they demand higher wages which they're not entitled to and they end up getting them, which drives up the minimum wage for everyone else the same way and thus the spiral continues.

That is pretty funny considering you just posted this ...
"He makes what the market allows him to make. If nobody was willing to pay him what he makes he wouldn't be making it."
The same goes for a group as for an individual.
If nobody wanted to pay union carpenters for the wonderful training they get and the beautiful work they do they wouldn't pull down that money.
At least TRY to be consistent.

Oh, believe me, I know that. We will always have the ugly and greedy with us.
You know, people like you if only you had a skill worth paying for.

One would think that you would have figured out by now that the issue is more complicated than your one sentence response.

I’m still waiting for you to share your infinite wisdom on what you perceive to be a complicated issue.

I'm not being inconsistent at all. Unions artificially drive up wages by threatening to strike or that the management meets some other demand, and the management either caves in or lets everyone go. This allows union workers to earn wages they would not otherwise earn if the negotiation was between the individual and the employer, which would be a wage consistent with the earning power and skill of the worker. When union workers get higher wages it does not mean their skills are commensurately better than they were previously, it just means they're better at collective bargaining than their bosses.

What a stupid thing to say. First of all, I'm retired and you know nothing about my skills or what I've been paid. Your comment isn't even worth the dignity of discussing.

I did say had, you know, past tense?
I pretty much figure that most of the conservatives here are older than dirt as they say.
And yet you responded, thanks.

Nah, they are too much the individual.
Kinda like their notice of Pat Sajak. LOL, what did he do that was deserving of more than minimum wage?
More power to him, but honestly? A near Donald Trump hair piece and standing around with a dental poster smile what is that really worth?
Rethinking, you could very well be right. Some of these guys would definitely sell out their principles for a bit of cash.

In regards to your "Rethinking"... What "principles" were "sold out" by Pat Sajak to get a job that allowed him to make more money?!?

I think he may believe if your a wealthy conservative, you gave up principles to gain wealth. No doubt if your a wealthy liberal/progressive then wealth is deserved and earned.
