Popular game show host Pat Sajak took to Twitter on Friday to express his personal philosophy about the minimum wage debate.

Ruffling a few liberal feathers, he tweeted, “When I had minimum wage jobs, my goal was to better myself, not to better the minimum wage.”

I couldn’t agree more!

The thing about raising the minimum wage, is that then you have to raise all wages; then you have to re-raise the minimum wage, and so on.

So says everyone - not on minimum wage. It would be commendable for everyone to "better themselves" - if it were possible. Not everyone can take on $50,000 - $100,000 of debt, expect to pay for it for 20 years - and better themselves at the same time.

How many college graduates are out of work? How many NEW graduates can't find jobs in their field of study? How many college graduates are working minimum wage jobs? How many jobs, created in the last 6 years, are NOT minimum wage jobs?

Reality is a bitch. Philosphizing by folks NOT on minimum wage is a luxury only THEY can enjoy. Folks forced to work for minimum wage, don't have time for intellectual ponderings and economic theories - they're busy trying not to starve.

I rest my case. Thanks for the example and proof that - anyone not on minimum wage - doesn't have a problem.

I appreciate the help.

So, now our policies should be set by a game show hosts? The man is a talking head for God's sake. What exactly are his skills, that he should earn that salary? Back in the day, if he ever supported himself on minimum wage, money went further than it does today. When I worked my way through college I made a whooping $1.00 an hour plus tips. If I had to have payed my own bills, I would have been screwed.

At times I have to wonder how some of these people ever got away from a minimum wage job.

If I were to guess, I'd say unions.

I’ve heard, and I’m sure you’ve had, numerous stories of people “starting at the bottom” and through perseverance and hard work becoming successful. And there’s nothing like embellishing college-related debt. A Fidelity survey of 750 college graduates showed that between student loans, credit cards, and money owed to family members, class of 2013 college graduates faced an average $35,200 in college-related debt.

Maybe you should be directing your questions to Mr Obama? Our economy is allegedly doing so great with millions of “good-paying” jobs being created. Just listen to the monthly BLS reports.

Reality is a bitch. Philosphizing by folks NOT on minimum wage is a luxury only THEY can enjoy. Folks forced to work for minimum wage, don't have time for intellectual ponderings and economic theories - they're busy trying not to starve.
This used to be the American way. Start at the bottom, work hard and pay your dues to EARN the fruits of your labor. What’s with all this BS of oh, I’m being paid minimum wage but I don’t want to work to improve myself so I’m ENTITLED to make a living wage so pay me what I’m ENTITLED to and not what I’m WORTH.
So says everyone - not on minimum wage. It would b... (show quote)

I’ll say this until I’m blue in the face…If you want to EARN $xx per hour, make your labor WORTH $xx per hour!

Nah, they are too much the individual.
Kinda like their notice of Pat Sajak. LOL, what did he do that was deserving of more than minimum wage?
More power to him, but honestly? A near Donald Trump hair piece and standing around with a dental poster smile what is that really worth?
Rethinking, you could very well be right. Some of these guys would definitely sell out their principles for a bit of cash.

Yes, you must be Willy Wonka Hermione blue by now.
One would think that you would have figured out by now that the issue is more complicated than your one sentence response.

Have you, by chance, looked up the percentage of workers on the minimum wage. You don't have to because I'm going to tell you. About 4.3%.
The minimum wage was conceived in racism. It was started to keep less skilled black people from Mississippi from being economically viable as construction workers in New Jersey (do your homework). A minimum wage job is meant to be a STARTER job. If you are still at minimum wage after a year on a job, I recommend you leave that job. If I have to pay someone $10.10 an hour, I am going to look for someone already qualified. I won't look for a young person trying to start out in life. If I could pay what the MARKET will bear, I would be much more receptive to hiring a young black man and paying him what he is WORTH as an employee, not what the government thinks every worthless drifter is worth.
