Well, this is interesting indeed. It appears that not one respondent actually checked out the link I posted. It shows in a TON of places where strict gun control laws exist in countries with homicide rates many times higher than the U.S. So the places with strict gun laws are less safe than those places where gun ownership is high.

You gun-nuts just don't care about children...

There is no cure for stupidity!

Anyone who does not properly secure guns in an environment with children is stupid.

It has NOTHING to do with caring about children and everything to do with being stupid.

Refer back to the first line of the post for clarification.

Pretty Amazing!

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin ...
Allow me to restate that number: 600,000!

Over the last several months, Wisconsin 's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.

(That’s more men under arms than in Iran . More than France and Germany combined. )

These men, deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin , to hunt with firearms,
And NO ONE WAS KILLED.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and
Michigan 's 700,000 hunters, ALL OF WHOM HAVE RETURNED HOME SAFELY.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the
Hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.

And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states.
It's millions more.

________ The point? _______________________________________

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower!
Hunting... it's not just a way to fill the freezer.

It's a matter of national security.

***************************************
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.
Food for thought, when next we consider gun control.
Overall it's true, so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don't possess the same skills as soldiers, the question would still remain...
What army of 2 million would want to face 30 million, 40 million, or 50 million armed citizens??? For the sake of our freedom, don't ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.
(IF YOU AGREE, AS I DO, PASS IT ON, I FEEL GOOD THAT I HAVE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS WHO WOULD PROTECT OUR LAND AND I SURE DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TAKING CONTROL OF THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS)

I'm so glad somebody put this out for every one to see. I understand why the liberals want to end the second amendment, one way or another. It's all about control of the American people!!!! they don't want a free American people to have a way to fight back. It's really funny the constitution was written some 225 years and it is still so very relevant today

Does anyone believe that the mentally challenged, or the convicted criminal element should have unfettered access to weapons. Can we have some common sense gun laws? Can we mandate some way to keep our guns secure from our kids?

In many states this is already the case since states are the ones who issue gun licenses and permits and in most states there already is a mandatory 3 day waiting period to purchase a firearm. Do you really think a convicted criminal is going to go through legal channels to obtain a firearm? Who is going to determine what mentally challenged means? This could have far reaching civil liberty implications. If you are taking a daily anti-anxiety pill, does that make you unbalanced? Wonder how many law-enforcement people are on daily dosages of that kind of medication. Does that make them imbalanced?

Every gun law, on the books at any level of government, is unconstitutional.

Just how would you go about this? It is already against the law for mentally ill or convicted felons to purchase or possess guns legally. It is against the law for them to purchase them illegally also, yet they continue to do so. Oh, dear, what to do? I KNOW! I KNOW! Let's make it harder for people who don't commit crimes to purchase firearms. That should make it more difficult for felons and nutjobs.
As for "mandating some way to keep our guns secure from our kids?" What would you suggest? Make it a law that people act like they have sense? Are you going to put video cams in all their houses to make sure they comply?
Punish them for reckless acts? Sorry, we already have laws for that. You simply want more laws and you don't give a damn whether they work or not.

Actually, in most states there is NOT a "mandatory 3 day waiting period." The whole purpose of the instant background check now in use is to immediately identify people who are prohibited from owning firearms.
