In our school, we have a moment of silence, so that each person has an opportunity to pray. Also, you can pray anytime you want silently. It is only teacher or administrator lead prayer that is illegal.
Being Christian, the Bible does say that praying in front of people so that they see you pray is false prayer.

That it does skott. I am at a loss as to why so many Christians chose to ignore that and want to display their prayers for all to see.

Maybe I missed something along the way. Where does the bible say not to pray in public?

I'm not sure where but I believe Jesus did encourage prayer to take place in your home or in private.

Or, including the previous verse, for the entire contextual meaning:

"When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 6"But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. 7"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.…

I am both a Christian and a Liberal. They problem with prayer in schools, is that I don't get to pick them. (That is true for every parent, not just me.)

I do have a problem with you thinking that school is the appropriate place for prayers, seems to me that Church is the best place for prayer.

Jesus said not to pray in public at all. It's a private matter. Some like to just pick and choose the things he told us that suit them.

That's exactly what they do, then claim its a matter of interpretation.

I couldn't disagree more. Many kids get nothing but starch and fats at home. Why not expose them to healthy food?
Instead of playground recess, Instead of playground recess, why not real physical education? As far as prayer in school, why let a little thing like the First Amendment stop you from forcing your religious beliefs on others?

Here are the first three things I would change... On the first day of my rule I would start off protecting our children, starting where they spend most of their time.

#1: Do away with Michale Obama's new meal plans for our schools. Go back to the stuff kids want to eat.

#2: Bring back the playground recess and work off that fat, not starve it off.

#3: Put the pledge to our flag and morning prayers to God back in the school.

All these changes would be required the next day, if the counties wanted even one more dime of our tax money.

Hey, I did not promise that I would play nice or be politically correct.

I read others remarks before coming back to this.

1. What kids want and what kids needs are diametric. I would add to the menu. Pork must be served at all meals: pulled pork barbecue, pork chops, pork roast, etc.

2. I agree.

3. I agree with the pledge of allegiance, not the prayer.

These are all well and good. When do you address the rampant fraud and thievery?

Sorry to be picky. That is the start of what we call the "Lord's Prayer" which Christ gave to his apostles as an example prior to his death. This was done during the old law. On the first day of Pentecost after His death, The Church - Kingdom, was established. The phrase "Thy kingdom come" therefor is no longer valid. Just remember that anything done in the Gospels was under the old law (Law of Moses).

Skott,I agree with you. Why is it that people that say that they are Christian or conservative say that the want to restore constitutional law and then do everything they can to ignore the First Amendment?

Because its not really about the constitution, its about them and their false patriotic rhetoric. Plus, they like the conflict.
