Perhaps he is voting his conscience, or perhaps he is simply gullible and believes the lies of his CIA puppet masters, or perhaps he is otherwise compromised. I do not pretend to know the motivations of Mike Johnson.
But what I do know, is that he is the Democrats best friend, and they along with the RINO's in Washington will bail him out and protect his position until January 2025.
Let's take a quick look at what Mike Johnson has done (or rather hasn't done) since he become Speaker of the House in October of 2023:
1. In November 2023, after Congress passed a two-step CR with Jan. 19 and Feb. 2 appropriations deadlines, speaker Johnson stated,
“I’m done with short term CRs”. On January 19,j the GOP-led House passed a continuing resolution (CR) to extend current federal funding levels to avoid a government shutdown, despite House Speaker Johnson having previously vowed not to pursue any more temporary spending bills.
In fact, Congress has passed
four continuing resolutions since the new fiscal year began to avert a government shutdown amid an inability of the Senate and House of Representatives to agree on the contents of 12 permanent appropriations bills for the year. Leaders of both party caucuses in both houses announced a deal on Feb. 28 to pass
two consolidated bills, known as “minibus” bills, comprising six appropriations bills each.2. The Southern border remains wide open because Johnson has refused to use his leverage as House Speaker and use the power of the purse to stop the illegal flow of migrants across our border.
3. Legislation to reform FISA Section 702 and stop the FBI’s warrantless spying on innocent Americans was blocked by Johnson. The competing bills would have imposed the requirement for the government to get a warrant
(as specified in the 4th amendment of the US Constitution) before spying on American citizens.4. The CBO estimates that the Federal
Budget deficit will increase by $1.6 Trillion for fiscal 20245. Politico is reporting that "Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK), Johnson’s handpicked choice to take over the House Appropriations Committee after Rep. Kay Granger’s (R-TX) resignation in March, wants to
“unlock the possibility of more earmarks”, despite the fact that House Republicans
banned the practice of earmarking in 2011 after the Republican Tea Party takeover. Why? Because "earmarks give leadership a powerful tool to coerce skeptical lawmakers to endorse massive multi-trillion dollar spending packages. Lawmakers are incentivized to look the other way and disregard the fiscal responsibility planks of their campaign platforms when their districts get a cut of the loot."
