I like to hear different opinions and will listen to opposing viewpoints but these trolls are here to only stir discord.
Trolls provoke, that’s their intention.
Never click on their comments and they will fade away.

Welcome to the site: It can be very trying to stay very long at a time. There are to many folks on here that believe their opinion is “FACT” that’s always fun. Then the ones that claim they “Fact Check” usually they go to CNN, MSNBC and the sort. Some even fact check listening to the very intelligent Ladies of “ The View”. I’m sure you get the drift. Anyway I look forward to seeing your posts.

I not so sure about that last sentence.
Some of them have been hanging around for years.
But hey, we enjoy the banter. It's ALL fun and games here. Lots of smoke, no real heat.

Sometimes discord is important. If it's the truth then those who believe in lies are only hurt by believing the lie. So, if you discount someone's words simply because you think they are a troll then if what they say is the truth you just discounted yourself!

Lastly, look at the House. We have a House that is going to pass a bill to give military aid to struggling Democracies throughout the world. We are the leading the leading Democracy in the world. If we don't support those who are struggling then who's going to do it? So I find it encouraging that the House is going to join the Senate and support a bill that aids Democracy which is a defining characteristic of our country and therefore part of our national Common Good.

And I didn't think much of Mike Johnson when he was first appointed but that he is willing to put his job on the line when an important piece of legislation comes along; well that's something we should want all of our representatives to do. So why are we supporting those who don't?

A person who is truly seeking to be more informed about world events will 1. Read; 2. Speak to a variety of people; 3. Think about what you have learned, and how best to beneficially apply it to your own life and to your world.

Thank you for including your opinion of a troll as one who "provokes," i.e., "stirs discord" ...as on a political debate forum.

It is a very commonly observed word, usually attributed to those whose opinion is judged as less than properly courteous while differing from that of the writer.

It's in the eye of the beholder, Steven. There is a core group of trolls most everywhere these days.

Trolls have had, throughout recorded history, a significant impact upon folklore, literature and media.

There is a fair amount of that to be found within any arena within our contemporary culture.

"A troll, historically, is a being traceable to Nordic folklore, including Norse mythology. In Old Norse sources, beings described as trolls dwell in isolated areas of rocks, mountains, or caves, live together in small family units, and are rarely, if ever, helpful to human beings."

"The most popular modern depiction of trolls is the internet phenomenon renown as "trolling" -deliberately posting provocative or offensive messages online solely to elicit a reaction. Although this type of "trolling" is not readily identifiable with the mythical creatures of lore, the term is subjectively perceived as online harassment, giving anyone labeled a troll a negative connotation within segments of contemporary culture."

Whether portrayed as menacing beasts or annoying tricksters, enduring worldwide belief in their presence in one form or another has always been a testament to their enduring fascination for mankind.

Everyone loves to hate something or someone... or, perhaps truthfully, to project themself the victim of such hatred.

I like to fact check the far right that is using some sketchy news sources. There are some sites that do this: fact check, Media Bias, allSides, Biasly and PolitiFact. A lot of the far right do not believe in the truth, but these sites were developed to debunk lies.

Again, what you do isn’t fact checking. To fact check you have to look at the individual articles
