Ok then use your own search words. Like I told you that is what our American history books said when I was growing up. They probably say that we were founded by Akmed Muhhamad Abdol with common core implemented now. What can I tell you.

First let us look at you first post, 'If you don't want to be associated with the word that was created here then don't steal the name for yourself. AMERICA, was named in honor of Amerigo Vespucci when he landed in New Orleans." I will give you there was an Amerigo Vespucci who landed at the sight of New Orleans in 1839, but the first use of America to talk about the twin continents of North and South America was in 1507.

How could America be named for someone who did not even get here until about fifty years after the country was founded?

I was always told it was impolite to speak a different language around those that don't understand what's being said. I'm assuming the Spanish students speak some English, but I'm betting the English speaking ones don't understand the Spanish being spoken. There can be exceptions, like two speaking together that can't be heard by others, you know private. Other than that it should be banned to speak another language in front of others unless it's a translation being conducted.

Aside from all that, the school system is completely unproductive and a disservice to our children, the reason being we know better, we know how worthless it is and yet we allow it to continue. Until it's changed by concerned citizens it will continue to plod along in ineptitude and misdirection.

I have been harping about the absolute need to get back to basics by our so called ( educators, ) for the past 20 years.

The money this country would save on placing English as our official language is in the many billions of dollars a year.

Our Constitution, was written in English. Not bilingual.
And if that was good enough for one of the most important
document ever written, to be in English. Why than is it not good enough for our school system to use.

The people on this school board need to be replaced, yesterday. And this edict needs to be rescinded now.

Ignorant anti-social people complaint about other people speaking another language, but in Europe several people speak different languages and nobody complaint about because educated people speak several languages. In U.S. dummies complaint about other people speaking another language because they don't understand.

America is the major land mass in the Western Hemisphere. The name was given in honor of Amerigo Vespucci, he later wrote about his trips and stated his belief that the new world was a new continent and the word AMERICA was first used on a map published in 1507, and the name AMERICA was used in reference to all of the New World countries, no the U.S. only.

----------

Bi-lingual education began in the USA in the 1830's. And, yes, it was "state-sponsored." It's purpose is to teach English to those who don't speak the language, not to maintain a foreigner's dependance on their native tongue.
You're confusing the writing of government documents in multiple languages with ESL classes.

Maybe you should go to one of the other industrialized foreign countries and see how many signs and documents are written in multiple languages, there. It's for the benefit of those who don't speak the native language, not to change it to English and make it the universal language.

America has no "official language." Why? Because we're a nation of immigrants, both legal and illegal. And, until the "newbies" learn the "predominant language" spoken here (English), they need the ability to understand what's going around them. Hence the writing of signs and documents in multiple languages.
