Roughly 26% of Americans do not believe in god, there are people of hundreds of faiths in our nation. Democrats understand that forcing them to swear allegiance to a god is a reprehensible violation of our founders intention. The inclusion of “under god” in the pledge and on currency happened in the fifties during the McCarthy witch hunt days.

When I learned the pledge "under god" was not a part. It was suddenly there when I came back to school for 8th grade 1n 1953. Personally I feel it is an "establishment of religion", prohibited by the first amendment, but the supreme court did not agree.
