There are exceptions for many of the rights listed in the First Amendment. Free speech has limits. A person may not yell fire in a crowded movie unless there is an actual fire. A person may not use free speech to disrupt an educational environment. Slander is not protected either. If the First Amendment of the US Constitution has exceptions, why not the Second Amendment?
The federal government is supreme to state governments. This is the Supremacy Clause of the US Constitution. In other words, the states may not have laws that go against federal law, so it doesn't really matter what laws Virginia

Contrary to popular belief, it is perfectly legal for a law-abiding citizen of the United States to own/possess a machine gun (sometimes called a full-auto firearm or automatic weapon).
This fact drives organizations like the Giffords Law Center and the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence crazy. Thankfully, no matter how much they support every gun control attempt and weapons ban, we currently have a Supreme Court that seems to recognize the strength of the Second Amendment.
The absolute easiest way is for someone to get a Federal Firearms License or “FFL” (even a home-based FFL ).
Depending on the type of FFL, and if the FFL-holder becomes a Special Occupational Taxpayer (SOT) the FFL-holder can purchase and sell machine guns, regardless of when they were made (more on this below), and they can even legally make their own machine guns or lawfully convert current firearms into full-autos. The best part about getting an automatic weapon as an FFL is that you can get it at dealer cost and fast.
Even without an FFL, a private citizen can still lawfully own a true machine gun if certain conditions are met. However, machine guns for non-FFLs are EXTREMELY expensive as the available supply is limited.
As an FFL, you can buy a brand new machine gun for less than $2,000 and have it transferred to you in a few days.

Queervyn, in the 1700's, "well regulated" meant well trained and equipped. NOT well controlled. You obviously flunked history and probably didn't take Civics either. Are all Democrats dumber than rocks? All citizens were required to own a "military" style rifle and have power and round ball ready so if the Militia was called up, they could respond armed. Mental incompetents, like you, would be excused from duty.

SaltWind666, why do you lie? People can and do own full automatic weapons in this country. Not every state allows them, but many do.

How come the right is not talking about the leading cause of death to children under 18, that is firearms.

Approximately 88,000 abortions have been provided in the formal health care system per month so far in 2023.

There were 2,279 firearm homicides in children and teens (ages 1 to 18) in 2021

PigW, your statement is misinformation. Children are 15 years old and younger and their leading cause of death is car accidents.
The 16 to 18 year Olds deaths are, for the most part, gang members and other teenaged criminals and the overwhelming majority of these "children", as you call them, are murdered by any means including firearms. FYI, if you hypocrite leftist Democratsreally cared about the children, you would be working to ban abortions....... But You Are Not.

Yes in this you are completely correct. The question is how can common sense restrictions be applied. How can we decide who should not have firearms without some regulation? I am now a responsible gun owner and hope I never have to use it on another human.

Well, common sense restrictions would include
1) Violent felony CONVICTION
2) a court ruling of mental illness
3) a history or arrest record for hard drug abuse
like heroin, crack, cocaine, fentanyl. Not
weed.
4) a conviction for domestic violence
5) a conviction for a sexual crime or human
trafficking.

And it's the "shall not be infringed" that you fail to read.

And yet the government passes these weapons out to the crazies on many days occasions. Now if you happen to be a felon (which covers a damn sight more the it did when that became law) and a citizen of the USA you can't own anything but if you're an illegal your buddy fjb has made it so you can buy anything you want.

Rights come with an unwritten cost ;
Maintaining rights requires
Respect
Responsibility
And
Discipline!
To ignore these and only favor the gun rights is ridiculous.
These rights should never override the rights Citizens to feel safe where they live.
To live with a constant threat of Taliban terrorism is totally Un American .
I do not favor being shot by some toothless , babbling halfwit with a 3rd grade education claiming it’s entirely his right , at all costs .
It is not .
If you point a gun at fellow citizens in my opinion you lose your rights to the 2ndA .
If you show up in public with a long gun , you are a terrorist and should be Shot on Sight !
Simple as that .
Guns and deaths of American Citizens at all costs ... (show quote)

WTF??? First you say if someone Points a gun at someone else you lose your rights but if you're in public with a long gun someone should shoot you. If I point a gun at you there's a reason for it and.since I was taught if you point it you'd best be prepared to kill or die.or both depending on how it goes down. Just because someone's a citizen don't mean they're your pal.
