We're doing 5 sheep, 5 cattle this spring. Prices will be higher but still have free meat and a few dollars in the pocket, after selling off quarters and halves.

It's not free but at least you know what you're getting. Unless you have grazing land that isn't taxed then maybe it's free . If the livestock is given to you..

I'm sure Jack is including the cost of growing the feed and the stock in cost. That is why he is calling it "free meat". It's paid for by the buyer through purchase price!
