You make an excellent point about his being in a no win situation. But that is the problem with most politicians, they try to appease the widest constituency instead of relying upon principles. As Gaetz states in this video, the house has hand no vote on term limits, or a balanced budget. Where is the full release of the January 6 tapes. Where are the subpoenas on all of Hunter Biden's nefarious activities, as well as the Biden crime family. Gaetz is entirely correct when he says that McCarthy has not used his power of the the purse to effectuate Republican values and goals. What is the point of having a Republican Speaker of the House if he continually acts as a closet Democrat? The Republican Party will destroy itself if it continues in it's present course, and the public should deservedly hold them accountable. As Gaetz states, you may fail on a vote, but you have got to trust that the public will support your principles!

The power of the purse is the primary responsibility for all House members. A true Speaker of the House, would have used this power to effectuate "change", not continue the status quo, that has led us to mess we are in!

I wouldn’t care if McCarthy stepped down tomorrow but what would be the difference? Any Speaker can call for votes but it’s having the votes that matter. Republicans have a slim majority in the House. A couple defections and your vote looks like weakness. Congress has shown over and over they have no real subpoena power. I do agree with using the power of the purse. Again, won’t work without all on board.
