To love your enemy, a uniquely Christian teaching, doesn't mean to be a pacifist. It means to pray to the Lord for the best possible life for your enemy. In other words, to pray for their conversion. Meanwhile it is also Christian teaching that a person should defend themselves and their loved ones. There is a doctrine of justified war.
But you have to know when to say when. Jesus said, "He that lives by the sword shall die by the sword ".

Jesus did not build His church on Peter. Peter is little rock or chip of rock, Jesus Himself is the rock that the church has been built on. He is the cornerstone, not Peter.
