A Song, A Memory

From my advanced age, it is just about impossible to experience what people call first love, because that lurks in the memories of a far time and place.

You know that feeling, we all have it sometime. It is the subject of so many love songs that try to evoke that memory one more time, a special song to you arises almost unbidden to rouse your soul to old and precious feelings. The words suddenly have meaning again, and you remember!

Youi remember ascending to the clouds, the world is a glorious place, you see things so vividly it hurts, and the woman at your side is a goddess, a perfect partner, and you must assuredly have lost your sense of reality in this ecstatic moment in time. As always, hoping and truly expecting it to last forever.

Your eyes meet and their depth and sparkle captivate you, you hold her close, you kiss her, vowing this love to last and last.

Poof! And the dream ends; that long-ago moment vanishes from your memory again, and the song that began this recalling dies gently away.

Brilliant.
I am lucky to have a wife who is from my background as a youth and two years younger than I am. Songs and movies too will bring back memories and feelings that we shared with others at the time but impose on one another now.
Love can be as quickly rekindled as it can be snuffed out.
Unchained Melody can get to us both.

You feel it too! Even now! Three songs take me into the dream world instantly!
Somewhere In Time
Automn Leaves
The Windmills of Your Mind

Fortunately, I do not hear or play them very often or I'd be baying at the moon day and night!

Google them .
I do it all the time
It transports me back, physically and mentally and emotionally and spiritually.
It's all personal. We all have our particular triggers.
Odors, sounds, tastes, sights, all transport us, emotions and all.

Well, that is a good solution. But I have assured myself of their availability by purchasing their DVD's. When I listen to music on Verizon/MC, those songs pop up occasionally too. It is an internal fight as to whether to stop and listen, run to the DVD player to hear them over and over, or to turn everything off! Ah! Memories!
