Festivus anyone!

Gretchen Carlson:
"For me, during the Christmas season, I don’t want to take my kids around in the car to see all the crèches in the town where I live in and hear them say, ‘Mom, where are they? I don’t see them anymore." Referring to where all the plastic Jesuses have gone.

This just isn’t the America they knew. It is being taken away from them. What Gretchen is saying is that, someday, you won’t be able to drive around and look at all the happy white people with their glowing plastic baby Jesuses. There will be brown people too. Some of them not speaking English as a first language. And there will be Festivus poles and symbols of other religions alongside crosses.

It has become clear throughout history that other belief systems, including especially the belief that there is no god, are a threat to Christianity’s elevated image of itself. Conservative Christians especially have a difficult time understanding that there are options to be found outside of their religion.

The very possibility that anyone might consider for even a moment that there might be a viable alternative to their religion must be eliminated, root, branch, and Festivus pole. The mere existence of alternatives is a form of persecution.

It has always amazed me how Conservative Christians get so ruffled when others express their beliefs, or worse, express opposition to Conservative Christian beliefs as is done when displaying a festivus pole.

They haven't done themselves any favors in recent years with the many hateful and intolerant statements by Christian leaders. Younger people are much more educated about the world today and aren't influenced as much when subjected to fire and brimstone scare tactics and the use of guilt as control. I've lost much respect for Christianity in recent years.

Oh, are you poor Christians under attack? Tell me, is putting a Festivus pole next to your nativity scene an attack on Christianity or is putting a nativity scene next to a Festivus pole an attack on Festivus? Just who is attacking whom? And yes, I happily celebrate the joyous holiday of Festivus.

I am unfamiliar with the festivus concept. What do you believe in and what does the festivus pole represent? Is it a religion or a non religion celebration an event like memorial day does,or Cinco de Mayo? If it is just a statement that we are against religion because we don't believe in a power greater than ourselves, that is fine by me, it is not my belief but you are welcome to yours. However, if your festivus celebration and pole are indicating that you do not believe in God and you don't want anyone to believe in God because it offends you, that is another matter. Your pole then becomes hate speech and that is not a good idea. Unlike many "progressives", however I do not want you arrested because of your hate speech. Just stop demanding that Christians not be allowed to say things that you "progressives" find offensive and trying to force us to do things that are against our beliefs. If you do that , I, for one do not care what "religion" or unreligion you follow If your nonreligion requires that you dance around naked at every full moon, please move to San Francisco where they will welcome you with (at least) open arms

Go ahead and put your Festivus pole next to my Nativity scene. We Christians have handled Romans,Nazis, and Stalin. You guys are a yawn.

Just don't take our stuff. Baby Jesuses are always being stolen. Festivus crap isn't worth stealing.
