The Alito opinion is all about democracy.
“It is time,” he writes, “to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
LOL This scares the leftists to no end - Let the people decide?????
There will likely be a movement to attempt to impeach some of the Judges on the SCOTUS , so that the POTUS can seat all activists judges
I would love to see referendums on abortion in every state.

Should the people decide about gun control legislation such as assault weapon bans?

Well, time to educate you again Grasshopper.
The people have already decided - it's called the Second Amendment.
Now, if all you looney anti-freedom gun grabbers want to amend the Constitution - there is a way to do that. Go for it.
And if all the abortion baby-killers want to amend the Constitution to make that a Constitutionally protected right - go for it.
Hint: Why hasn't it been done before? Have a person who can think logically and rationally help you with that.

Yeah, at federal level, not dumbchit states.
Why would democrats be scared when more than 65% of the American people want abortion rights protected?
The Alito opinion is about one religiously oriented right wing judge bringing personal beliefs to the bench, not democracy, he is out of tune with what americans want.

So you believe the sates are not capable of following the wishes of a majority of their residents? Logic would dictate that the federal government (which is even more remotely removed) cannot either.
If 65% of the people want that - why haven't they started the process to have a Constitutional amendment?

You tend to overlook the “well regulated militia” part of the second amendment. The government of, for and by the people is who regulates the militia. And keep in mind the assault weapon ban and limited magazine size easily passed constitutional scrutiny and was the law for a decade and was successful in its goals. I glad I could set you straight on this matter.

Ah Grasshopper: I didn't overlook anything.
So again I must educate you: The 'well-regulated militia' clause is a 'declaratory clause' to explain the reason people need to have the freedom to be armed.
“Well regulated”, however, meant something completely different in 18th century US.
Back then, nothing was “regulated” in our sense of the word. There were no actual regulations like we know of them today.
Well regulated meant it functioned well. A “well regulated” business was one that operated efficiently. Consider that a well regulated gun was one that worked right.
A well regulated militia would be a group of people who could unite together well and act as a cohesive unit. To protect against threats. Foreign or domestic.
Most people don’t realize this divergence in the language. Well regulated militia is nothing more than a group of hardy people that have guns that could come together and perform well. It does not mean government regulated or managed. It never did.
And the 'assault weapons' ban had no significant impact on crime.
You have been educated. Class is over - you are dismissed.

LittleWoodie Woodglue, I think that I told you before, the polls lie. Trump wasn't supposed to win against Hitlery according to the polls but he did. Polls are propaganda tools. Probably 70 to 75% of Americans don't want gun control and probably around 50 to 55% of Americans don't want abortion to be legal and available. The Supreme Court decision just throws the issue back to the states, where it belongs. Nothing in the Constitution allows abortion or any form of murder. The Constitution was written to limit the power of government not empower it to oppress the people.

The judges on the Supreme Court are there to protect the U.S. Constitution ONLY. They are NOT there to appease the "mob", they are not there to bring in their personal beliefs, they are not there to change the meaning of Our CONSTITUTION. They are there to make sure that the laws imposed and that have been enforced by the lower courts, follow the resequint of the laws and protections provided to the people, by the Constitution of the United States, as written.
