You may boycott Disney for the rest of your life but kids don’t care if their friend has two moms. They are taught that hate.

They don’t care and they wield a lot of power when vacations are on the family agenda.

But this is a shot across the bow of corporations. The message, Republicans want to exercise control over those corporations that are critical of the republican anti-woke agenda and those corporations will be retaliated against.

The theme parks are but a small part of the overall corporate structure. Among other things, they're big into streaming now. Approx 122 million subscribers compared to 222 million for Netflix. The fact of the matter is that the Republicans in Florida want to put Disney in a "choose and loose" position. DeSantis wants Disney to flip and sell out the many customers that feel the law is bigoted. Republicans use to say "stay out of the way of businesses". Disney employees 55,000 people in FL. "No business should allow politicians to exploit it as an extension of partisan political warfare. Florida isn’t (yet) communist China, where a totalitarian government sets rules companies can either abide by, or leave. Disney can continue operating in Florida no matter what, while politicians have 13 months to decide if they really want to disrupt a local governing structure nobody was complaining about and transfer more of the management burden to local residents".

That’s great that you think they are capable of doing that.
I don’t see it.
Two sides of which neither can be trusted.
Two sides , which neither one will lose anything.
We will pay for it.

People are canceling Disney trips and Disney Plus subscriptions over the 'woke' stance by the company
Many long-time Disney fans are reportedly canceling trips and subscriptions in great numbers recently, due to concerns over the company's "woke" take on several current issues.
Disney has been famous in the recent past and has been canceled itself, for canceling conservative actress Gina Carano, and for releasing movies meant for children talking about themes such as masturbation.
According to the Daily Wire, however, "it was Disney's stance on Florida's bill banning classroom conversations on gender and sexual orientation for young children," that, according to those they interviewed, is pushing them "over the edge."
Disney executives, while at the same time expanding into parts of the world where homosexual acts are still illegal in the year 2022, have come out publicly as being opposed to the anti-grooming bill, which purports to put control of children's sexual education back in the hands of their parents or legal guardians.

I doubt it. Businesses should be a pawn for politicians, republicans or democrats. Businesses should pay attention to their customers and employees, not politicians.

Yes, they should, and their customers are bailing big time.

Nobody is talking about disney's taxes after the bond-issue is solved, and many other obstacles created by this exemption worked out. The taxes paid by the theme parks will be re-configured, NOT forgotten. The adjoining counties may take a hit, but they still enjoy the income disney provides. fjb

Oh Rumi, where do you come up with this BS! I suppose you are going to claim that you personally know parents who don’t allow their children to play with children of gay parents because they are EVIL! 🤯

I live where that is less likely to happen. So no. I do not know any such people.

Double speak for more illegal executive orders...meanwhile the fact remains that there is something deeply wrong with any governor or president using their position to vindictively go after a corporation because they speak out against their policies...this is full on Nazi horse crap. Only Nazi's won't see it as such.

We all make mistakes, don't we, Woody. I'm sure Raw Story has verified all of this, as is, no doubt, their practice. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this all shakes out. How are you betting?

Gee, I guess I'm hoping that illegal actions against a corporation because they spoke out against DeSantis stupidity gets hammered, as it should. Betting on it...not a chance when dealing with a little Nazi like DeSantis, too hard to predict what someone will do that cares nothing about the law.

Since this came from RawStory you can be assured it left out a lot of important details that did not fit its spin. We will see how plays out.

Or you could dig in a bit and look at other sources and figure it out?

Let me help you here...
...Disney has a special tax district called the Reedy Creek district, if anything they pay more in taxes
...This district took out bonds for infrastructure, it was created out of swamp for one thing
...Part of the bonds being issued were guarantees that the government would not default on agreements
...because Disney had more resources than the counties around Reedy Creek
...The bonds belong to the district, not Disney, end Disney's role as a district and they have no bonds to service
...the bonds were for real estate improvements, not Disney infrastructure

Hey, fill in the blanks, the things that weren't covered, others are reporting more and more as other reporters are figuring out the legal implications here.

And the bottom line is that Disney would have a valid damage suit for breach of contract if they incur losses, which appears they will not.

They will get by without trump supporters, be a better place for that.
