What the Bible says about The 144,000

The 144,000 have very special qualities; Revelation 7 and 14 mention them as highly favored of God. They:

Are sealed by an angel of God
Are specially selected from the tribes of Israel
Stand on Mount Zion with "a Lamb"
Have the Father's name written on their foreheads
Sing a new song no one else can sing
Are redeemed from the earth
Are called "virgins"
Are not defiled with women (false churches)
Are considered the firstfruits of God's harvest
Are guileless and without fault

The bride of Christ is also exactly 144,000. Revelation 21:2 describes the bride as "the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God." At this point, she has risen to meet Jesus Christ, married Him and is coming back to rule on the earth with Him (Revelation 5:10). She will always be with Him from this time on (I Thessalonians 4:17). This occurs at the last trumpet (I Corinthians 15:50-52), the time of the resurrection of the "dead in Christ" along with those who are "alive and remain." (I Thessalonians 4:16-17)

Revelation 21 goes on to describe the bride further, beginning in verse 9: "Then one of the seven angels . . . talked with me, saying, 'Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife.'" The angel refers to her as "the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God" (verse 10).

He then describes her dimensions: Her wall is pierced by twelve gates—each a great pearl—having the names of the twelve tribes of Israel inscribed on them and twelve angels at them (verses 12, 21). Her twelve foundations, adorned with precious stones, are each named after the twelve apostles (verses 14, 19-20). New Jerusalem is 12,000 furlongs in length, breadth and height (verse 16). Her wall measures 144 cubits (verse 17).

Twelve tribes times 12,000 each is 144,000, just as John describes the sealed servants of God in Revelation 7! Twelve and the square of twelve is New Jerusalem's description! The bride is exactly 144,000, and the firstfruits are exactly 144,000 (Revelation 14:4).

Revelation 5:9-10

The issue in the vision of Revelation 5 is finding One who is qualified to open a certain scroll that contains a listing of events that will occur beyond the present time, both before and after Christ's return. The issue is resolved because Christ, the Lamb, is qualified to open it because of what He has already accomplished. He is our Redeemer and thus qualified. His qualification sets an example for us to follow in our Christian lives.

Verse 10 concerns us most. It helps to know that the term “kings and priests” is better translated as “kingdom of priests,” as numerous modern translations render it. Christ has appointed the redeemed (verse 9) as a kingdom of priests to serve our God and to bear a measure of rulership (“we shall reign on the earth”). They are appointed to a responsibility by Christ because they, like Him, have been prepared to render these services in God's behalf.

Beyond the priestly functions, rulership is clearly in view for the redeemed. Christ will appoint only those already prepared for these positions. Both rulership and priestly functions contain shepherding responsibilities. A priest is an individual especially consecrated to the service of a deity as a mediator between the deity and his worshippers.

Note two passages of Scripture that confirm what we are being prepared for:

» You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. . . . But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. (I Peter 2:5, 9)

» They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. These are the ones who were not defiled with women (false religion), for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. (Revelation 14:3-4)

Both of these future positions help us focus on what we are to do within our calling now before the events of Revelation 5 and 14 occur. We must prepare to lead in the Kingdom of God. The world's approach to salvation focuses almost exclusively on being saved by confessing Jesus Christ as Savior. As important as that is, it pays little attention to any other purpose and responsibility attached to it.

However, this period prior to our ultimate admission into the Kingdom of God has a major purpose: to be prepared to continue serving God at a remarkably higher level of responsibility after Christ returns. We are being created into Jesus Christ's image, and leadership is what God is looking for in us. He does not need to see us leading vast numbers of people, but He wants to see leadership in spiritual growth as we overcome our carnal natures.

How? We are to be living sacrifices, deliberately choosing to allow ourselves to be transformed into the image of Jesus Christ through obediently following His way of life. If we lead others in this life, it is primarily by example, as we are not forcing God's way on others.

Ginny, the Bible states exactly who and what the 144,000 men are as I posted earlier. It also states who the Bride of Christ is. It is all believers who have been saved in the Church Age!

I understand now where you get some of your beliefs after following the site bibletools to The Great Worldwide Church of God and Herbert W Armstrong. A man who’s teaching was contradicting to the Bible.

The imagery and symbolism of marriage is applied to Christ and the body of believers known as the church. The church is comprised of those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and have received eternal life. Christ, the Bridegroom, has sacrificially and lovingly chosen the church to be His bride (Ephesians 5:25–27). Just as there was a betrothal period in biblical times during which the bride and groom were separated until the wedding, so is the bride of Christ separate from her Bridegroom during the church age. Her responsibility during the betrothal period is to be faithful to Him (2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:24). At the rapture, the church will be united with the Bridegroom and the official “wedding ceremony” will take place and, with it, the eternal union of Christ and His bride will be actualized (Revelation 19:7–9; 21:1-2).

In the eternal state, believers will have access to the heavenly city known as New Jerusalem, also called “the holy city” in Revelation 21:2 and 10. The New Jerusalem is not the church, but it takes on some of the church’s characteristics. In his vision of the end of the age, the apostle John sees the city coming down from heaven adorned “as a bride,” meaning that the city will be gloriously radiant and the inhabitants of the city, the redeemed of the Lord, will be holy and pure, wearing white garments of holiness and righteousness. Some have misinterpreted verse 9 to mean the holy city is the bride of Christ, but that cannot be because Christ died for His people, not for a city. The city is called the bride because it encompasses all who are the bride, just as all the students of a school are sometimes called “the school.”

Believers in Jesus Christ are the bride of Christ, and we wait with great anticipation for the day when we will be united with our Bridegroom. Until then, we remain faithful to Him and say with all the redeemed of the Lord, “Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).

144,000 = “First Resurrection” – “2nd Death No Authority”

➠ Revelation 20:4-6
“Then I saw Thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to Judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the FIRST RESURRECTION! Over such the SECOND DEATH has NO POWER, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.

Where will the 144,000 come from?

➠ Revelation 5:9-10
“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from EVERY TRIBE & LANGUAGE & PEOPLE & NATION, 10 and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”

(Many Churches “subtract” this scripture, and instead teach, the 144,000 are limited to Native Borne Jews. Rev 22:18-19)

144,000 Must “OVERCOME” or “CONQUER”

➠ Revelation 2:10-11
10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who OVERCOMES shall not be hurt by the second death.”

I think we can see here that there will be at least two resurrections.

Absolutely despicable.

Posting this sort of garbage says much about the character and beliefs of the one who posted it.
She denies the racism and anti-Semitism in her world view, demonizes the Jews, dishonors Jesus,
butchers the Bible, yet claims she is a Christian.

False teachers are getting stronger and more importantly the church is getting closer to the blessed hope.
God is weeding out the tares, or more precisely, He’s showing us with eyes to see, the fruit of the evil ones. We can’t see the heart, but fruit is the language we can comprehend to use for decisions about being yoked or not to someone.
I’ve judged people regarding their fruit. There’s no reason to read their posts anymore.

Ginny, I have spent about an hour reading this life hope and truth site. The entire emphasis is on the Kingdom of God, not Jesus Christ our Savior. In fact, I did not read anywhere that Jesus is our Savior. No where does it teach the gospel that Paul taught! It teaches that the Trinity is false and many other unbiblical teachings. Twisting scriptures is done throughout this entire site!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are just a few of the misleading and false interpretations!
“We are God’s children today because when we are baptized, we receive God’s Spirit. God’s Spirit begets us as children of God (1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 5:1). That means that God becomes our spiritual Father, and we begin the process of growing in a Father-child relationship with Him and developing His character.
Being born again—entering the Kingdom of God by a resurrection to glory—is the whole purpose of being a Christian (Philippians 3:8-14).Through baptism and the laying on of hands, we enter God’s family in this sense. God becomes our Father; Jesus Christ, our Elder Brother; and other Christians, our brothers and sisters. Just as children grow and develop physically, we are to grow spiritually by seeking the pure milk of God’s Word (1 Peter 1:22-25; 2:1-3).
We can learn many lessons about spiritual growth from the growth of children. For instance, we can learn about spiritual development from the development of a fetus in the womb of his or her mother. Just as a fetus grows and develops in the womb, we are to grow and develop spiritually. Just as a fetus relies on the nourishment of its mother, we are to rely on the nourishment of God’s Word. Just as loving parents will consider that developing fetus to be their son or daughter and a member of their family, God considers us to be His children.”
“Just as children are the same kind of being as their parents, so we will be the same kind of being as God and Jesus”
“These verses reveal two important truths: First, Jesus is the first of many other brethren (brothers and sisters) who will be born into God’s Kingdom. Second, Jesus was born from the dead. His birth took place when He was resurrected from the dead.”
“Jesus was “declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead” (Romans 1:4). He was transformed from flesh to spirit and reunited with His Father.”
The use of the term firstborn shows that many others will ultimately be born into that same family. God the Father is calling men and women today to be “sons and daughters” in His family (2 Corinthians 6:18). Those He is calling will be God’s children in the fullest sense when they are resurrected and glorified by being transformed into spirit. They will then be “like” Jesus Christ
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This leads one to believe that we will become gods…….just like God and Jesus! I could go on with all the false interpretations of scriptures, but if a church does not preach and teach that Jesus Christ is our Savior, that the one and only way to God the Father is through Jesus Christ His Son……….there is absolutely no need to say anything else!

You are being led down a very dangerous dark path by following men that twist scriptures and many that “preach” despicable white supremacy! May God open your eyes before it’s too late!
